Hello! Here's a cool project to check out! ✨

I'm super stoked to say I made the visual teasers for A Second Round, a QPOC indie film short by Angela Jude. I had so much fun designing the characters and posters and figuring out how to paint whiskey. Ha!

This is the second film by writer/director Angela Jude. A queer live action short about two very different lesbian women with two very different perspectives. The film seeks to promote unique voices and create a dialogue about queer women in a comedic fashion. All positions and opportunities were specifically given to QPOC. We feel that if we have been given opportunities we must then lend a hand and help those who strive to be storytellers as well.

Womxn Are Perfect! Open Call for Artists

Submit art for consideration to be included in Womxn Are Perfect! Exhibition - February 2016Tuesday, January 12, 2016 - Sunday, January 31, 2016

Galeria de la Raza starts the year of 2016 with an exhibition honoring womxn. This exhibition seeks to define what perfection means by, for and about womxn. Womxn Are Perfect! is open to artists who self-identify as womxn to submit their works for this upcoming show in February.

Interested artists are asked to submit 1-3 works of art that speaks to, redefines, and challenges what the hetero-normative womxn perfection means to them. Womxn of color, queer, trans and gender non-conforming visual artists and art collaborations are highly encouraged to apply. We welcome works in all mediums and alternative practices to apply.

To apply: Submit the following to [email protected] by midnight, January 31, 2016

• Artist Bio (100 words maximum)

• A brief statement about your art/practice and why/how it fits into this exhibition

• 1-3 images of works as JPEG image attachments. Please list the title, date, size and medium of each piece.

Deadline: 11:59pm, Sunday, January 31 2016

Artists will be notified of acceptance on February 5th. Artists will be responsible for delivering their work to Galeria de la Raza by February 10th-February 13th.

hiiii a friend and i have been working hard together to start a new blog, and i’m excited to announce that it’s launching!! it would be great if you could help promote us! (: (if not, i understand)

the blog is called mobmaterial and the point is to create a place that celebrates poc in counter culture/youth subcultures, which are spaces that usually represent only able-bodied, thin cis white people, thereby erasing the presence and contributions of poc. this is a space for all of us to gather, celebrate each other, and share inspiration/art. this is NOT a space for yt’s or cis-males!

moreover, we want to help provide a platform for poc artists, esp those who are just starting out and want more exposure for their work. are you an artist? do you have short stories, spoken word, dance, art, etc that you want to share? this is the space for you!!

we would especially appreciate your support as we are aiming to be as inclusive as possible, including trans poc! if you choose to support us, we would also be immensely thankful for recommendations of blogs to ask for support.

Can anyone link me to one (or several) really thorough, well-worded, and even-tempered (that last thing is not a priority, though) explanation of why POC-only spaces are needed/important (I know why, but I'm looking for something I can use to back me up)?
