Guys imagine a trans vampire that basically gets free hrt cuz they got bit.

Ok ok imagine this. Black (or rlly any POC) Trans character that’s an adventurer in olden days California. One day they’re riding their horse around heading south to visit a village near the Arizona esk area and unfortunately they have to pass through an abandoned town. Now this town used to be populated by quite a few people—they know this because they used to stay long weeks there. So they investigate and BAM out pops a vampire. They get attacked, vampire tries to eat them, they fend the vampire off and run out of town, now they have just have a nasty scar that won’t heal all the way.

Now. Pause for a moment because I need to explain how vampire infections work in this au. When vampires turn to vampires their saliva and blood becomes almost infectious. This is because a bacteria enters into their blood, adopts what is essentially a mask that mimics the victims home antibodies, hides in the bone marrow area, duplicates inside the body faster than new blood cells can be created, and then once they outnumber the blood cells they take the mask off and eat away at them and the white blood cells. Now in order to keep the human body running the bacteria has to leave some blood to keep the system alive, and, it also adopts the ability to carry hormone and oxygen around. So really it’s like evil fake blood.

Now, the bacteria spreads through the mouth, some of the bacteria settles in the cheeks and back gums. Then it becomes rough enough to tear through the inner lining of the mouth, allowing for it to almost constantly leak out. This allows for the host to infect others. Now, usually the bacteria takes like a month or two to work because it’s doing a hell of a lot. And if you eat your victim before that time is up then there’s nothing to worry about. If you dont then they become a vampire and bitter to the taste. And also kinda toxic.

Oh and the bacteria, as a side affect, also effects your eyes and muscle cells to a certain degree. Allowing for vampires to make themselves look a little different depending on what they need. They can’t fly or turn into bats. But their teeth are sharper, they’re strong as hell, fast as hell, and have sharper cognitive abilities so they can learn things like languages better. Also, they can taste memory. Not see it. Just taste it, so sad people taste for example savory or something. Ok it’s like wine.

Ok now that you understand that, we can go back. So the character gets bitten, and because the vampire is a whatever gender the character is transitioning to, there is sex hormone in both their original and newblood stream. That leftover hormone enters our characters blood stream, and they start seeing the effects.

The hormone isn’t native to their body though so the effects aren’t very strong + the bacteria isn’t carrying more testosterone than it brought in. Once the transformation begins they crave a hunger for humans and their first victim (in a heat of the moment) is the same gender they’re transitioning to. The drink this blood, and AGAIN it’s like being on HRT or something.

Remember how when you get bitten, the hormones of the previous vampire mix into your bloodstream? Well it works the same way in reverse when you drink the blood. Hence why turned vampires are so good at looking androgynous. This happens because one, one constant open wound in the mouth that leads directly to the blood stream, and two because technically when WE eat something we also consume it’s hormones (i think) it’s just not a lot of it.

Since vampire bodies in this universe are like nutrient magnets, they don’t get rid of much, it just all goes somewhere. However because the hormones in their bloodstream are native to the characters body they have to eat a few people to get to a comfortable hormone level.

Once they get their though you can’t tell them shit. You could tell them that they’re the chosen one, favored by god to not only transcend the gender they were born with, but to be bitten be an immortal superhuman (sorta).

So now they’ve reached Southern California ~ Arizona and they meet this Native American and they really hit it off. They’re also a vampire, turned during an attack from US soldiers in the mid to late 1700’s. One of the soldiers was an infected hiding among his fellow soldiers and caught them alone, typical shit. So now we have our character, their new bff or partner (whoever you prefer), traveling the US from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic together having a grand old time. They’ve got a horse for each of them and a whole lot of stories to tell. And they go on a lot of side quest where they make friends both human and vampire.

One of their friends could actually be another supernatural thing. Maybe they go to the mexico border and meet a werehawk (hawk human hybrid that uses its caw to ward off evil things, so, they’d be a werehawk by choice BUT STILL COOL) or another friend could be from the Appalachia and be a mimic from the mountains. Something from Appalachian folk lore that’s supposed to explain why you shouldn’t follow voices in the woods. LIKE GUYS CMON

They try to limit their killing to bad people like abusers, rapist, stuff like that. (Although sometimes hunger is to strong and they lowkenuenly eat a random. Oops.) They don’t work for an objective good or bad they just live for themselves and the ones they care about. So they don’t go around saving towns and pulling cats out of trees to call themselves good people. It just happens to find them. Wouldn’t that be cool?
