Octopus
Secret Kiss by Georges Barbier
Franz von Zülow pochoir, 1914
A new book, a little different from the others, because it's somewhere between figurative and abstract art. LA6P-26-02, 11,8 x 8,4 x 1,2 inches / 30 x 21,3 x 3 cm
This Thursday! Spectacular Stencils: Gorgeous Examples from our Pochoir Collection
Detail from Formes et couleurs; vingt planches en couleurs contenant soixante-sept motifs décoratifs, Paris, 1920.
Join us on the 6th floor of Hatcher Library this Thursday, 18 September between 4-6p for our first Third Thursdays at the Library event of the semester! This event will feature colorful stencil prints.
Pochoir, French for stencil, was a popular technique for creating multicolored art popular in the early part of the 20th century. See our vibrant examples from design, fashion, and garden publications, as well as a meticulously crafted new reproduction of the most famous pochoir artwork, an artist’s book by Sonia Delaunay.
While you’re here, pick up a Third Thursday Passport and collect a stamp! Make it around to all four Third Thursday Open Houses — the Clark Library, International Studies, Asia Library, and the Special Collections Research Center — and win a prize!
