We now have the building system fully operational in its prototype form! Next on the list of things to do is to get it working with the rest of the machines, as well as balancing out the resources needed to craft them, hopefully, soon all of the key mechanics will have been implemented and il be able to start the long and arduous task of polishing this game up!
Hi there! I know its been ages but I've had a lot going on lately, I've started university and lots of things have been changing in my life so Pocket Planets hasn't really progressed for a while now.
this week I've had a new burst of motivation and I've directed that into starting to add new functionality to the game! Im looking forward to working more intently in the future!
Small change
Im changing up how you’re going to go about building your oxygen generators and the order in which the game is played.
Now, instead of simply building an ‘Oxygen Generator’, you will have to crate a ‘Bio Dome’ a small air tight dome in which you can place a ‘co2 Emitter’.
after the dome is filled with co2 you will be prompted to plant trees and maintain trees and other flora, these trees will be your primary method of creating oxygen.
Just a small update today (im really glad to be getting back into the swing of things!).
A little visual addition, i thought it was a little difficult to see if your machines were actually being powered or not by the battery.
So ive added a visible energy field that lets you know were to place your other machines if you want them to receive the power they need to terraform your little planet!

This is my first time creating a Dev-log with live commentary over it. I am showcasing the new HUD system I've been working on for a few weeks now, the visuals aren't complete and this is more to show off that the code is currently working :)

Really basic rendering of some Ui (user interface), this is far from how its going to look in the final product and this is more for internal data use then for the player at this moment :)
currently just has a 24 hour clock and a progress level of how much you have terraformed your pocket planet, more to come!
Inventory System
Quick update, i will soon be starting work on the inventory system (now that the items and mining mechanics work).
This process is probably going to be my greatest challenge yet throughout creating Pocket Planets as this is the first time I’ve tried creating a system like this (other than the energy system i posted a while ago).
Im going to have to do a lot of research! Wish me look.
(side update) Work on the system has now begun, the inventory is functional from the programming side of things and ive managed to create it in such a way that it can mostly just be automated, i am now working on making the system visual and finding fun ways in which the player can interact with their inventory to make it different from other games on the market.
