Saw this place while driving through Poconos, Pennsylvania the other day. If I had to guess, I’d say it was an abandoned hotel but there are no identifying signs that explain what this building was really used for so it’s hard to know for sure. What do you think it is?

Little gopro story i did while fly fishing with my dad in the Poconos this past fall.
Most of the Fernwood Resort has been abandoned for many years. It consisted of a massive hotel and conference center in the heart of the Poconos, Pennsylvania. The conference center partially burned down in 2018 and was demolished soon after. The hotel portion of the structure still stands. A section of the property was purchased by a group of Buddhists.
Will I ever stop posting about Penn Hills Honeymoon Resort? Probably not.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know by now that I’m obsessed with this place. Visited multiple times and forced many friends to trespass with me. One little bit of Penn Hills history that really interested me is the light fixtures, seen here in screenshots from 2009.
Half a century ago, these lampposts dotted the grounds of the 1964-1965 World’s Fair in Queens, an array of whimsical exhibits and rides spread across 646 acres that would become Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. After the fair, a set of the luminaires, as they are known, was shipped 100 miles to Analomink, Pennsylvania, to welcome honeymooners to the Penn Hills. After years of sitting on the Penn Hills property, the colorful cubical World’s Fair lights headed to a private buyer in 2015. A fire damaged the property in 2017 which resulted in the rest of the buildings being demolished soon after. Thankfully these lights were long gone by then. Source
