Queer Zest Zine Fest is finally back!

Queer Zest Zine Fest 2024 is a celebration of LGBTQIA zines and diy/indie publications. The festival will take place 100% online November 9-17, 2024.

Last July, I made a commitment to make one (1) zine a day for International Zine Month. Mostly to get out of a creative rut, and also to reinforce a creative habit of sorts. I mostly do well with monthly challenges, but I took this on since I kept complaining (to myself) that I haven't done a zine in months. Well, how about 31? Why not why not why not?

These zines contain a mixed bag of topics. Ranging from the mundane (drawings of stuff on my desk) to the esoteric (how some of my zodiac placements manifest and function in my life) to the nostalgic (that Thursday and Taking Back Sunday concert I attended in 2011). All in varying degrees of quality. Some zines serve as jumping off points of topics I want to discuss in the future in longer and more involved zines. Who knows when I'll ever get to them? At least something exists on paper (for now).

✨spolight✨GLXTCH is an ongoing passion project of mine - it’s a zine series by yours truly!🙌🏾

I make analog & digital collages and then present them alongside poems and essays following a particular theme. 🎈Past themes have explored: the structure of memory, existentialism, distortion of the self, shame, objectification, and ways of feeling stuck or stifled. Each issue is a labor of love!

Presented here are the covers of each of the current three issues, and previews of their pages. Digital copies are for sale online and print copies are available by request.

NEW ZINE! 

PICKING BONES #2 is a heavy issue with writing and art about my father's illness and death from cancer in 2017, intersped with happysad stories from childhood and comics about anger, exhaustion and learning to cope with life after loss. There is also a small happy story that happened with an old friend ❤︎ PICKING BONES #2 is 24 pages, half-sized with hand-stamped covers in various shades of blue and green cardstock. I’m also open for trades~
