i'm a huge podcast guy, for those of you who haven't heard me prattle on about them. here are some of my favorites, in case you are of the same ilk.
mike and tom eat snacks, or mates. michael ian black and tom cavanaugh eat, discuss, and rate snacks. it's much funnier than it sounds, i promise. a loyal viewer, and i know i'm not a viewer.
the nerdist. the first episode of this i heard was when i saw them do the live one at sdcc with wil wheaton, matt smith, and karen gillan. it was great then, and every episode is hilarious and interesting. i highly suggest this. (headsup: they have comedians on, so there's an occasional thing someone says that is questionable. but it's great overall.)
you made it weird with pete holmes. pete holmes talks to his friends about weird things he knows about them. the chelsea peretti episode made me laugh so hard it was probably dangerous to drive while listening to it.
how did this get made? paul scheer, jason mantzoukas, and june diane raphael (as well as a guest) discuss the worst movies. consistently really funny.
the pod f tompkast. paul f. tompkins' podcast. highly structured: opening stream-of-consciousness monologue, ongoing radio play about celebrities making a film voiced entirely by paul f, skit from his show in la, and a phonecall/conversation with jen 'southy' kirkman. supergreat, althought limited. hopefully it comes back soon with new episodes.
spy vs. pie. two cartoonists (brian fukishima and phil redmon) ramble about not much of anything. wordplay and nonsense. start of early so you can understand all the weird shit they say, like why the end the show saying 'bye peedis.'
judge john hodgman. a deranged billionaire hears silly court cases. always always always funny. big fan of hodgman in general, in fact.
the art of wrestling with colt cabana. think wtf with marc maron but interviewing pro wrestlers instead of comedians. it's really interesting and funny, even if yr not a wrestling fan (maybe).
stuff you should know/stuff you missed in history class. super interesting podcasts from howstuffworks about pretty much everything. sysk is funnier and general knowledge. stuff you missed in interesting in the 'i listen to npr because i find things fascinating' kind of way. these are good for when you need to actually get yr brain working, like after a long day or on the ride into work.
these are the main ones, i think. there are a lot more i'm meaning to check out, but these are the ones i listen to consistently and try to keep up on. as you can imagine, i tend to fall behind. but maybe there are a few you will like!
