I actually quite liked early Reylo when it was often presented as an addictive or abusive relationship with a sort of triangle dynamic, but the other side is PoeFinnRey.
But I cannot deny it would be much more compelling it it were gay. I think I prefer transfem Kylo and genderqueer Rey personally. It makes the whole Killing Of Han scene more palatable because Han's love is always unconditional but also clumsy, injurious, just painful enough for a flare of dark side cruelty. Just have Han say something from Kylo's youth that Isn't Not Male Gendered Exactly, and let the moment of pain be an opportunity for the palpatine that YOU ARE ESTABLISHING MUCH EARLIER HERE BY JUST REPLACING THE SHITTY BRAIN GUY FROM THE FIRST MOVIE OUTRIGHT
Anyway, Rey's story is basically unchanged you just get to add a joke about her not knowing what a woman even is and therefore not being one, it's very sweet and childlike in a way (my god she's so young), very I'm not a woman I'm a smuggler pew pew fingerguns energy.
And of course Finn and Poe are a more classical bi for bi relationship with an honestly unusually healthy dynamic because the cracks don't show until Rose and the casino are on the scene. I like a sort of transmasc adjacent thing for Finn especially, a counterpoint to Rey's vibes with a strong, "I'm not a stormtrooper I'm an Man" energy that appeals to me as an intersex person operating outside gender binaries especially. He can be AXAB transmasc, as a treat.
Poe is cis I guess but in a Token way, well no that's not right it. Okay, look, most friend groups DO have a Cis One okay, I swear. Maybe it's someone's brother or their boyfriend or their sub IDK but there's honest to god usually a cis guy around somewhere. They are real!!!
Ugh I could have written those damned movies so much better is the point of it all.
