The sandstorm roared outside the cave entrance, a furious wall of ochre violence that made the world beyond disappear. Inside, the air was thick with dust and the strange, charged silence between them. Ben Solo sat against the rough stone wall, his throat a dry, cracked desert. Rey paced a few feet away, her boots scuffing on the gritty floor.
“We’re not going anywhere until that stops,” Ben said, his voice raspy.
“I know,” Rey replied, but her eyes were on their empty canteens. She lifted one, shaking it. A single, pathetic drop fell onto her tongue. “We have nothing left.”
Ben’s own tongue felt like leather. He’d been thirsty before, but this was a deep, cellular craving. His body screamed for hydration. He watched Rey’s movements, the way her hand went to her own lower abdomen, pressing gently.
“I have to go,” she said quietly.
He blinked. “Go? Where?”
She turned to him, her expression utterly practical. “Piss, Ben. I’m full. And you’re parched. It’s simple.”
A laugh, dry and humorless, escaped him. “You’re joking.”
“I’m not. On Jakku—" she began.
Ben cut her off. "I know, I know! You drank piss in emergencies! Well, Sweetheart, I'm not drinking piss!"
“I drank your piss earlier!” she reminded him.
The memory of Rey’s lips around him, the warm stream filling her mouth, flashed unbidden, hot and vivid in his mind. It had been shocking, surreal.
And strangely arousing. But Ben refused to acknowledge that now. Not when he was confronted with the idea of doing the same.
“Well, that’s you,” Ben countered, folding his arms.
They sat in angry silence for several long minutes. Outside, the storm howled. Ben’s thirst grew, a palpable beast gnawing at his insides. He could feel his own weakness, the light-headedness beginning to creep in. This is madness, he thought.
Rey shifted, her discomfort becoming more obvious. “Ben,” she said, her voice softer but insistent. “I really have to go. And I’m not wasting it. And you know it’s not good to stay thirsty in this environment. You’ll collapse before we reach the settlement.”
He stared at the cave floor, at the ancient scratches in the rock. His pride warred with the raw, biological need.
He sighed, a long, defeated sound that seemed to suck the last of his resistance out of him. “Fine.” He lay back on the cool stone floor, the grit pressing into his shirt. “Do what you gotta do. Probably won’t be the worst thing I’ve ever drank.”
Rey nodded, a swift, business-like motion. She stepped over him, straddling his torso. He watched, his heart hammering strangely, as she tugged her trousers down, pulling them to her knees. She didn’t remove them entirely—practicality again—but she lowered herself, squatting above him...
