When will you open your eyes and see
That this world is never going to be free?
'Cause the war is won,
The price is paid,
The son is lost,
The mothers, they wail.
'Cause the ones you believed, was ever wrong
You never saw, what was there all along
Though the rumours did say
But who'd believe a stray?
That you were deceived
By the leader you once believed
They led you to victory
And say all's now glittery,
But is it really won
When you lost everyone?
Memories and devestation, they would stay
The bereaved families would always pray
But the history will change
The winners will write
What once was blood
Is mere words tonight

Entrainment
The spontaneous synchronization of oscillating systems as in the illumination patterns of fireflies to the wingbeats of free-flying barnacle geese to the tendency of an applauding audience to start clapping in synchrony.

We said we wanted to know all of the words. So we began to write them on the backs of each other's hands, on our arms, wherever we might be able to keep them and revisit them and press them in to our consciousness. lissom comity undulating nascent clinquant serenity tenebrous vertiginous torpid agraffe wanweird malinger evanescent luminescent basorexia brabble defenestrate
How did we go from rapacious yellow hordes ready to ravage your white women- to the sexless Asian in the background of your television? From the militant, harvesting masses- to the model minority helping you prepare your taxes?
From The Insomniac Liar of Topo by Norman Dubie
Election Night A woman inside a black and gold shade is eating rice with small red peppers shredded in it. She washes her face, a large insect with an arcade pincerlike hand clawing through silver-plated timepieces, sunglasses with turquoise lenses and a copper blade for paring toenails or peaches. This mind reader is a muse of terrible futures. This morning she said that she was not surprised by the pool of urine on the kitchen tiles. She did not berate the miniature dog but rather her husband. He thinks, while stepping over the waters, that damn pond where the gray monk drowned his two kittens. Sleeping all winter, then the cook's sister realizing the cold bastard was dead. A clairvoyant from the suburbs of Detroit, she whispers to her client while choking on incense. Suck it up, dearie. The zipper scar on your belly is romantic like an amber centipede dragging itself across wet rocks in Scottish moonlight. . . (. . . to be continued)
