Willow: Yeah
Hunter: Hold on I think I did it wrong I was supposed to- wait, did you say yes?
Willow: Yes.
Hunter: Oh. Well, that’s great! Perfect! At midnight?

Cat's Cradle
"Alright, team. We're just waiting on the other two and we'll get started," Tony announces, though you're barely listening.
"Okay," you mumble, still more focused on your game. "James," you call and without even looking at you, he sticks his fingers out to help you.
"Thanks," you mumble again, looping his fingers around the makeshift thread.
"Who taught her this?" Tony asks, gesturing to the Cat's Cradle game you've started.

There were many things that were Eva’s favorite things, about Terra Nova.
The wildflowers of every shape and color surrounding her as she sat in the tall grass. The sound of the water lapping against the lake shore. The fluffy clouds that she and Luca loved to imagine into the most ridiculous things. The spot by the bubbling river where she and Isaac had made love just a week after they had first arrived so long ago now. The sounds of the wildlife in the distance. The rain, the wind. But the sunshine was her most favorite thing. Because when it was burning into her skin, no shadows could hide.
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing." The ring on her finger sparkled in the sunlight as her hands worked at the flowers and grass in her lap.
Luca flopped down beside her with a huff. “Evie. That's not your nothing voice. That’s your something voice.”
Eva had never known why she was never able to hide things from him, but she never questioned it. “It’s just. One of those days.”
It was the least amount of information she could give, but Luca nodded knowingly. “Missing him.”
“I mean I always miss him. But today...today my heart aches.”
“Why don't you tell him? It might help. He would probably even come back early if he knew how you felt.”
“Exactly. That’s why I’m not going to tell him. He's doing so much good out there. I can get over a day of heartache.”
She gently plucked a few more of the flowers around her, purple and pink this time, pressing them to her nose and inhaling before adding them to the work in her lap. She didn’t move her bare feet when the grass brushed against them, relishing the tickling feeling.
“I had a nightmare last night and I'm so used to him being there. I swear I have more of them when he's not around. Is that a thing? Because it feels like a thing.”
“It sounds like it could be a thing.” Luca shrugged, and brushed a curl out of his eye that the wind had thrown over. “You know you can always come cuddle in my bed when you have a nightmare. I’m most likely awake anyway.”
Eva smiled at him. “Thanks Lulu.” She brushed her blonde hair over her shoulder and held out the woven circle. “I joke with him that he's my King. And you…” The crown of flowers looked too perfect on top of his curls, and she laughed before taking a picture to send to the Admiral. “…you are my princess.”
Imagine Gigan, still in his Showa form, sitting quietly in a newly hi-jacked spaceship and nibbling at his feathers. He takes great pride in keeping his sails and floof in tip-top shape and can spend a full hour tending to his appearance alone.
Imagine a certain beetle peeking over a corner, before silently sidling over to the cyborg. Gigan ignores him until the insect kaiju decides to help out and begins nibbling the cyborg’s feathers. It’s his first time grooming Gigan since that special night they had together. The night they cemented themselves as proper mates...
... At least, they were ‘proper mates’ in Megalon’s mind.
“??” Gigan would blink if he could, as nobody has ever groomed him before and it takes him by surprise. It really shouldn’t, he supposed. Let Megalon think that night was ‘special’; as long as it meant this idiot bug would keep working for him.
So Gigan soon relaxes, watching Megalon sneeze when the golden floof tickles his face. A short chuckle comes from Gigan’s beak before he resumes preening. After a few more soft sneezes, the beetle too continues his efforts to bond with his new partner.
This time though, Megalon sticks to grooming Gigan’s sails, less tickly that way.
Precedent, deleted chapter
Bruce rarely took vacations.
Realistically, he knew why that was the case. There was far too much to do to be able to take breaks. If it wasn’t a new serial killer in Gotham, or the Joker escaped again, or whatever other random catastrophe happened every other week, it was something with the League. Alien invasions. Asteroids headed towards Earth. Rogue members. Bruce dealt with the whole gamut.
Every single week.
There just wasn’t much time between events for real, actual vacations.
But when he did take them, he was always reminded about how much he loved them.
He was fortunate enough that Lucius basically ran WE, so he at least had plenty of time during the day to spend with his kids. They were his break, sometimes.
Spending a quiet morning with Jason, going through school work or simply existing in the same space was relaxing, after all. Lazy afternoons with Damian. Taking them to the mall or the park. Game nights and movies. It was enough downtime and relaxation for him that he didn’t go absolutely insane with his lack of vacations
But he had to admit. Actual vacations were definitely better.
At least, that’s what he was thinking that morning, when he woke up in a beautiful hotel suite with Damian still fast asleep, right beside him.
The suite was plenty big enough for each of them to have their own beds. Bruce had specifically chosen one with two bedrooms, after all. One for the kids and one for him. Damian had spent all of two hours in his own bed before his socked feet could be heard, padding across the living room and slipping inside Bruce’s room. A second later, Bruce had felt the bed dip, ever so slightly, where Damian climbed up and over to where Bruce was.
“Mr. Cow had a bad dream,” Damian had said, with a shy little smile on his face. The one he used when he knew he was about to get what he wanted, regardless of what he said.
Because of course he was. Bruce was such a push over, as Dick had always said. Besides, why would Bruce want to kick Damian out and back to his bed?
“Did he now?” Bruce asked, looking at the toy cow in question, which Damian had held up for Bruce to examine, “Did you tell him it’s just a dream and there’s no reason to be scared?”
“He’s not scared, he just wants to sleep in here anyway.”
With a quiet laugh, Bruce pulled the blanket out from under Damian and helped him get snuggled down under it. “All right, and since I know he can’t sleep without you, I guess you can stay, too.”
Moments like that…
Time was fleeting. Bruce wished he could hit pause. Slow down the aging process. Revel in his children for longer.
But that’s not how time worked, and it’s not how kids worked. So when Bruce woke, he enjoyed the first hour of his vacation staring at Damian’s sleeping face, marveling in his son’s presence and peace.
The quiet, beautiful peace didn’t last, of course.
