I shouldn't be complaining about this because this is not addressed to me, I play Pokémon in French, the only reason I know about this is because I was walking around in the fandom.

So, Pokémon Z-A rant ahead! ^ ^;

English Pokemon Legend Z-A sometimes using French words as their attempt for a French name is silly, but, you know, it's funny, whatever. (I'll forever laugh at "Urbain" it's just exactly the word "Towny" in french slapped on a character and call it a name xD)

But naming the poison type dude "Corbeau" is a crime! "Corbeau" is the exact word for "Raven" in French. But the dude doesn't even play with his name, he has no bird pokemon, or even at least a Honchkrow or Corviknight to be like "heeeey~ ;>"

NO! His main is a bug poison type! Is that supposed to be the ironie here? The first time I saw people talking about Corbeau I really thought he was a dark type trainer and that he would have a Honchkrow or something (at the time I haven't seen his design that screams "poison type" yet)

And people mentioning his Scolipede I just thought, like "Oh! Scolipede must mega evolve into a dark type then, cool."

NO! IT'S NOT!! I hate the english translation. His French name is Corvault and I am calling him that!! End of story!!

So, I like how they gave Corvault a way to speak that really get close to a Quebecois accent even thought he's that rich dude who dress fancy. So, that accent that the French often associate with street people or poor people or country people or something, but he's not that kind of people. Yes, he's a loan shark, but doesn't mean he should be talking "rudely". Hehe... So I just read his dialogues with a Quebecois accent, it was really fun! He's easily my favorite character because they went that step in the French translation ^-^ which they never did for a major character that isn't a country bumpkin or a street dude in the Pokémon French translations so I was very surprised and enamored by them doing this. ♡ Guzma came close but Guzma was using a LOT of European French only expressions. (and he's a street dude, what did you expect) I actually understand Corvault when he speaks AND he's living in Paris so of course he'll get a bit of European French jarguon even if he was like... from Quebec or something.

He has a past that would explain his way of speaking even if he was 100% European French, but I just like to imagine he has a Quebecois accent. There's a LOT of diversity in this game so... why not? Really, why not? xD

Oh, well, it's not something that would really matter for the English people anyway, that whole "Corbeau" rant stays though. "Corbeau" is his gang nickname and his real name is Corvault. I chose so.

yk when I first got into Pokemon Sword and started finding Gordie to be one of my comfort characters, I remember finding how sad his fanbase was :,((

Like wym he’s not as popular as the other characters— it makes sense that Leon or Raihan become popular cause of their appeal BUT YOU WOULD THINK PPL WOULD LIKE GORDIE AS WELL BUT NO, ITS HIS MOM…

but back then, when I was trying to find good content or fanart or fanfics for him,, it would only be weird stuff like ships with his mom or eating fetishes like what :,((( that’s weird guys the only relatively plus size character in this game and ppl decided to do that with him?? gross behavior genuinely

It’s so nice now to see ppl genuinely find joy over the same character as I do :DD cuz before I thought I was one of the few Gordie fans!! thank god for tumblr fandom still being alive!!!

I HATE him. I hate what he did to N, and his other 2 children. I hate what he tried to do. I hate that he got out of prison. I hate that he didn’t die. He DESERVED death. Sad that Game Freak won’t do on screen deaths. His team says that he was ready to defeat N and ‘put him back in his place’ whatever tf that means. Bored rant bc I have zero motivation to draw rn

“Pokemon cards are too expensive” “the new Pokemon game is too expensive” POKEMON IN GENERAL IS TOO EXPENSIVE NOW. I AM TIRED.

Ok I’m not that angry but at this point does anyone else feel like Pokemon is more of a “luxury” series compared to every other Nintendo series? Like I know everyone likes to bash on Nintendo in general for having overpriced products but Pokemon is the biggest offender. You can’t even get PLUSHIES now without it setting you back an ungodly amount. I feel bad for anyone hyperfixated on Pokemon. (for me, I’m lucky to only have it as a smaller interest that comes back randomly sometimes)

I do believe in letting anyone of any age enjoy anything, even “childish” things (saying this as someone who unironically loves It’s a Small World), but Pokemon has been marketed towards children and families for years, and I don’t think that demographic can afford ANYTHING Pokemon related right now! Especially in this economy! So in this case I find it extremely annoying. It feels like there’s NOTHING affordable from Pokemon anymore and if something affordable does come out, it gets scalped to hell and back. Idk if today’s kids are even gonna even care about Pokemon when they eventually become adults because I don’t think most of them can even afford to enjoy it right now!

The games? Decreasing in quality each year, but now you can buy the post game we used to put in these games for FREE for 30 USD! What a deal! Look! We have announced our new SPINOFF game, Pokemon Legends Z-A, and right before its release, we are also announcing a DLC for the game! We hope you have fun spending around 90 DOLLARS for the full experience! God forbid it’s a mainline game and you want both versions plus their DLCs!

Oh your kid wants the new Pokemon games? Go fuck yourself! We’re gonna be the FIRST series to stop producing anything for the Switch 1! (We’re only releasing Legends Z-A for both out of obilgation. Hope your Switch 1 can run it!) And best believe we’re gonna likely price Pokemon Winds and Waves for 80 USD and make their individual DLCs 40 USD! You want Pokemon Pokopia? 70 dollars. Drop it now.

(This is coming from someone who’s family bought a shared switch 2 but I literally only use it to play Kirby Air Riders and the Kirby and the Forgotten Land DLC (already had the og game) because it’s genuinely too expensive for me to get anything else and I care about Kirby more. I don’t want to buy Pokemon games + their inevitable DLC anymore. Especially for the quality they serve. (Unlike Kirby where I actually get a game for what it’s worth, they look beautiful and are actually fun! Meanwhile Pokemon gets repetitive immediately and has BLURRY TEXTURES.) But unfortunately Pokemon works in a way where if you don’t have the newest game, you’re left behind by the fanbase AND the series itself.)

Oh you’re nostalgic for Pokemon cards? Were you like me who grew up with the Sun and Moon sets back when ETBs were 40 dollars at max and now wanna see what the new releases have in store? Wait where are the cards? Oh sorry, they’ve been getting scalped for the past 6 goddamn years to the point even non-English packs are 15 dollars per pack. You’re a parent just trying to afford anything Pokemon to satisfy your obsessed kid? Good luck getting them a little treat by buying them a single pack for getting a good grade on a test or something! Because they sure as hell aren’t in that supermarket you’re in trying to buy 200 dollars worth of groceries just for 2 weeks.

Do you want the company to do something? Nahhhh, less product means more scarcity and therefore more scalpers buying from them! Oh and let us just throw in the same 5 pokemon as the rarest cards in each set even when they aren’t even relevant to that game. 10 NEW CHARIZARD CARDS BECAUSE THE KANTO MONS ARE WHAT SELL! Why would they ever actually fix the problem when they can make MONEYYY. Oh and don’t even think the LEGOs are safe, they’ll overprice those too. But to be fair LEGO themselves overprices literally everything now so if you have both hobbies you can go drown I guess

What about plushies? Are you a plushie collector? Do you have a favorite Pokemon you want a plushie of? Good luck. Sitting cuties are apparently 30-40 USD on the Pokemon Center website. For the SMALLEST PLUSHIES you can buy. I got a pretty large YouTooz Toy Bonnie plushie at Spencers for 35 dollars, WHAT is this pricing (and that was from me checking BEFORE Trump’s tariffs happened, so trust me when I say they were priced like that before the tariffs). Oh and if your favorite Pokemon isn’t the same 10 most popular Pokemon or Pokemon introduced in the newest game you can go drown too because sitting cuties is ALL you’re getting. Did you miss the drop for a plushie release that happened maybe 2 years ago? Good luck dealing with resellers, actually get ready to deal with scalpers for ANY major plushie release apparently. God knows what will happen when that fat Pikachu plushie for the 30th anniversary eventually comes out.

Literally the only somewhat affordable Pokemon product I’ve seen is children’s clothes at stores like Walmart and Target. Pokemon is a luxury brand now only able to be afforded by rich families or rich influencers. Everyone else is either irresponsible with their money or someone just trying to keep any kind of hobby in this capitalist hellhole where now literally anything used for joy is majorly overpriced.

I can’t WAIT to eventually make me or someone else spend an unnecessary amount of money on Pokemon gen 10 and it’s DLC because I simply can’t help myself and I’ll probably give into the temptation to get it eventually!

It’s a shame that typhlosion is going to become the victim of really unfunny s*xual jokes with in the Pokémon fanbase that people just aren’t going to let go of. But you must be wondering…how do I know this?

I’ve seen it before, there are many other Pokémon that can be good expamples but these two especially are big ones, among some other furry/humanoid Pokémon.

And as much as that makes me really uncomfortable, I am not going to let that affect how I feel about typhlosion. I recommend to not let these type of horrid jokes art, or whatever, affect how you feel about a certain Pokémon, especially if it’s one you’re very passionate about. As someone who’s a huge fan of a lot of furry/human like Pokémon and am a furry myself, I’ve seen this type of song and dance so many times over the years and even formerly had ties with artists that drew those Pokémon in a certain way (many of those artists I knew as a minor and they were very toxic people, but I’ve cut them off when I began to be more aware of how bad they were, but that’s a whole other story)

Of course I understand the stuff that was revealed about typhlosion is disturbing, and it’s okay to feel disturbed about it, but personally, I’m not letting this ruin the fact that typhlosion is one of my favorite fire type starters. Though I feel like a big reason why I am not letting this phase me much is mostly due to me not being very active within the Pokémon fanbase itself since 2019-2020 due to how awful the discourse regarding newer games was and still is to an extent, which thankfully isn’t very common in tumblr from what I’ve seen.

i saw people complain, also, about tutorials in Legends Z-A as if that game didn't change up the entire gameplay formula

bestie, i hate to say it, but it's your fault you don't know what's going on. the game just told you, but you button-mashed through it. they gave you all the resources, but you act like reading at a 2nd grade level is /so hard/.

i get it. people wanna get into the gameplay faster, but they fail to understand it might be someone's first Pokemon game. yes there should be a skip tutorial button, but complaining that a tutorial exists at all doesn't help their case.

So if Grusha is a ice type gym trainer that is a ex snowboarder...I need someone to make a Pokemon trainer that is a sandboarder. Honestly if the Orre region ever gets a revamp, which it SHOULD, that is gonna be a thing I would like to see. Or heck, give me another region that has a lot of dessert terrain. A trainer that does sandboarding as a sport and specializes in ground types.
