Alright. First of I hate Ghetsis, I really do, but, to be honest, he's an amazing villain. Unlike the others his ambition goes to the point where he's willing to use anything and anyone to reach his goals. Traumatize a child for life and manipulate him to do his bidding? Sure. Killing a child? Acceptable. Freezing a whole city as if it were Frozen? I don't see any problem to let go there. My boy N deserved better, but is still amazing to see how far Ghetsis is willing to go.
yeah true but also he seems kind of... flat? IDK USUALLY i like villains who are just plain evil for the sake of being evil and are unrepentant, but those villains are usually the ones who are very 2d, and don’t have any other character trait besides “being a huge douche”. HOWEVER i think this works seeing as N is portrayed as a very grey character, questioning his ideals upon meeting touko/touya, and the protag is seen as the ultimate “good” character while ghetsis is seen as the ultimate “evil”. given the narrative, N choosing between these two (one who raised him, the other he just met but can actually connect with) is Interesting. meaning ghetsis is still Flat but his role in the narrative is important. doesn’t make him a good villain, it just means b/w has a Good Story and they placed him well in it.
i think lusamine is very similar except she is given a backstory and is shown as being at least partially sympathetic (tho i still hate her, i know a lot of ppl like lusamine) and redeemable. her actions are EXPLAINED (not excused, nothing can excuse abusing your children) so people are like “...OKAY i can kinda see where she’s coming from” (again, losing your husband does not mean it’s okay to abuse your kids!!!!!) but at least it understood why she does these things. ghetsis has no redeemable traits and it just Evil, which i think is frankly boring given more interesting villains like cyrus or lusamine or ones that are not irredeemable like archie or maxie. but everything is Subjective it just Depends on what type of villain u prefer.
