//clouds [renjun drabble]
it's kind of a long but soft, fluffy and a bit sad drabble so bare with me, i suddenly got the idea so i just had to! enjoy uwu!

huang renjun hated cloudy evenings
they hide the colors of the sunset and most importantly
they hide the stars at night
looking at the stars each night gave him just a bit of reassurance
like someone was out there looking out for him, you know?
he was particularly fond of finding the big dipper
trying to locate polaris and orion and other consellations that hid in the night sky
so whenever he looked out expecting to see stars in the sky and was greeted with clouds, he felt his heart drop
it would almost ruin his evening
he felt something missing, incomplete
but at some point...
by some star-crossed circumstances, he met you
spending a lot of time together by day
stargazing by night
one evening, on the day of your 1 month anniversary, renjun had a whole day planned right until nightfall
everything went to plan and the weather was beautiful
only a few small clouds dotted the sky
the two of you went out for dinner and the sky began to grow dark
"it's only natural as it's becoming night"
so you both think nothing of it
when you leave, you dont notice the sky, you were having too much fun
but renjun took one brief glance at the sky
empty.
not a single star.
he felt bummed, falling silent instantly
he wanted to incorporate them in the last plan of the date
but now he'd have to think up something quick
"renjun? you ok?"
you pulled him out his thoughts, though only getting a soft nod in response
after reaching his place, he decided to just go with the flow and forget about it
although it did dampen his parade a little...
he instead just got lost in the conversation you were having
staring deeply into your eyes
he noticed your eyes managed to pick up reflections of all the different light sources in the room
they glistened like the night sky he missed
"earth to renjun... were you even listening?"
you looked a little betrayed that he had the audacity to shake his head
while smiling! but,,,
"i'm sorry baby, i just noticed something"
he says, holding his hand towards you
you look perplexed and lost but take his hand anyways
following his lead towards the window
"look up at the sky"
"...it's cloudy... what am i supposed to be seeing?
-- and wait what does this have to do with you realising something?"
you stand, hand on hip in disbelief
renjun giggles at you, hushing you
he steps forward, towards you, placing a comfortable hand on your back
"exactly, the stars have gone from the sky, but you are taking care of them in your eyes"
you freeze.
your mouth widens.
your cheeks turn red and you try to bury your head in renjun's shoulder
when he catches your warm face in his hands
"haha, don't hide the stars from me too~"

the clouds stole the stars from the evening sky
but now he found out that they were safe
within the eyes of the one he loved.
