got a bit of an announcement.

due to some unexpected events, i'm going to Alaska for a week. my cousin, who was supposed to go, got bronchitis at the last minute and isn't allowed on the plane, so she gave me the ticket instead. i've spent all day running around in a rush because I am literally leaving tomorrow evening. as excited as i am to go, this does mean that i'm going to be on hiatus for a week. i wanted to give a heads up to the people i'm writing with and those who interact with me regularly. i owe some starters as well, but i'm going to have to save those till i get back, 'cause i'm in a whirl trying to pack.

i'm very sorry to put things on hold. if you don't want to wait, i completely understand; just send me a message saying so. otherwise, i'll be back before you know it and willing to continue then.

Sugar Free

“Look, I’m calling about getting a vehicle towed, can you at least tell me yes or no there?”  A voice growled to a recipient on the other end of a phone call.  The owner of the voice belonged to a rather upset Sweet Jack, who stood in a phone booth just big enough to accommodate him, spare his tail that hung out the open door.  ”What kind?  Look, you’re a towing service buddy, that’s not a question I think really needs answering as far as I’m concerned!”  Another pause and then an annoyed sigh, “Well the hell with your truck, I just want you to help me out here; drag the heap for all I care!  Now I-”  A click before silence on the other end of the line told him he had been hung up on… again.  ”RRAAAAAGH!  That’s the 5th one tonight!”  He slammed the phone back onto the receiver rough enough to crack its casing and nearly put a star on the booth’s glass.  He had been contacting several towing services to tow his ship that he had so “carelessly, landed in a rather soft pasture a few miles out.  With no power and no way to move it on his own, he was up a creek without a paddle.  The worst part was, it sounded like from the last person he had called, there was word getting around that some yahoo was asking to get a spaceship towed, which was why he tried to work his way around the subject on his latest attempt.  Hopefully they only thought of it as coincidence, or maybe just a prank floating around, nothing along the lines of an actual extra terrestrial asking for a tow…  Still, what were they going to do anyway, call the cops?  Not likely; they’d probably just figure it was just a drunk or something and leave it.

"Please, don't excuse yourself for sounding arrogant. They are... very well constructed." He tried to sound impressed, but it was hard to mask the impending concern for the voice the faceless subject. "Soo.. do you get out much?"

“Don’t pretend to be impressed. Humans never understand the beauty of them, so I know you’re lying. You don’t need to lie to me.” He was currently on the ceiling, looking down at the intruder with a faint smile, “No, not really. I only leave to shave or fish or, on odd occasions, visit somebody. Now,” Webster paused to drop from the ceiling and move a bit closer to him, keeping the majority of his spider-like features hidden, “What brings you here?”

I'm quite disappointed. I heard there was a fearsome beast and all I get is a room full of spiderwebs :I

“I wouldn’t say fearsome but I can be quite scary at times.” The spider snickered from the darkness, hiding from sight, “And I don’t mean to sound arrogant but my spiderwebs are nothing to be overlooked.”
