An embroidered griffin that I have been working on. It's almost finished now and has been entirely attached to the red velvet. The end product should be a red 14th century style purse with the Griffin on it. It's silk split stitched onto plain linen. It's then been appliquéd onto red silk velvet (which feels *very* luxuriant). The picture with the red lines was manipulated by my good friend Sabine over at http://www.threegoldbees.com. She is somewhat amazing and a great teacher, the lines were to show me how to get the right movement in the threads. And the very handsome puppy is DJ :) Things I like: Colours came out nicely, really pops out on the velvet, it looks pretty okay. Things I will change next time: The shading I think could do with some work, I think the appliqué is a little rough in patches, the Griffin looks cool but I think the pattern is a little modern.
