Poly Pocket
A TV series about a polyamorous trans girl (maybe named Polly? Too on the nose? Penelope?) who’s in a healthy poly relationship with at least two other people. She lives in a shitty-to-okay apartment with three other people (two of which are a couple). She’s a substitute teacher (alternatively the show could’ve been called The Sub?) and has a generally happy life. She goes to therapy and support groups, but she’s managing everything pretty well.
Idea for the first episode:
Penelope’s partners, Drake (straight trans man) and Amarilla (bi cis girl), meet for the first time and realize they used to date before Drake started his transition. There’s a bit of drama but it’s mostly comedy. Like Amarilla is upset she wasn’t told about Drake’s transition. Drake is upset that Amarilla ended their relationship. Etc. etc. By the end of the first episode they’re on good terms and there may even be a spark rekindling.
Meanwhile during the episode Penelope teaches her kids 3rd or 4th grade English and they’re reading George by Alex Gino (a book about a closeted trans girl wanting to play Charlotte in Charlotte’s Web). Most kids like the book and see no problem with trans people but there’s a couple transphobic apples. There’s also a closeted trans girl in the class. Penelope shuts down the transphobic kids and teaches them that trans people are like everyone else and deserve respect and love. The trans girl eventually goes to Penelope and comes out to her and asks her advice. (This all may be a longer arc than just one episode.)
Who wants to make this with me???
