Sayaka noticing early on that Madoka doesn't seem very bright on the relationship type of things so she decides to look for her, make sure she doesn't end up with somebody who'd hurt her

This self imposed job isn't actually anything she has to worry about for most of her life, surprisingly nobody goes after Madoka so Sayaka can rest easy for a while, then the new girl comes into class and Sayaka breaks a little because what do you mean the smart, athletic pretty girl is a weirdo, no no no no no, that girl isn't getting her Madoka

She meets Mami and well, Madoka and her hit it off, Sayaka likes Mami, she's great, she'll defend Madoka, teach her how to defend herself (something Sayaka failed at), she seems like a great fit right? And then Mami let's Homura join them and it all fall apart, maybe Mami was great yes, but her sense in friends was sketchy so she should probably look a little more before giving up her Madoka

Meeting Kyoko only reinforces the fact that Mami had bad taste, the girl herself is also annoying, aggressive and Sayaka just doesn't want her to meet Madoka either, she'll teach her some bad things Sayaka feels it, so she has to distract the girl from Madoka

Decides to distract all 3 of them from her, Homura's doubtful looks tell her she knows, for some reason she goes along with it regardless, Mami just seems happy enough to be invited (is that the reason her taste is so bad? She'll go along with anything?) and Kyoko...Kyoko seems delighted at the opportunity to make fun of her

When a pouting Madoka asks her why she wasn't spending time with her too, Sayaka is confused, but decides to make time in her distraction plan for her best friend too

Sayaka and Homura have the most potential out of the holy (poly) quintet of developing a right-hand-man × boss dynamic for multiple reasons, one of which is simply because of how their powers work with eachother. Sayaka is straightforward and dishes out as much pain as necessary right away for as long as necessary/possible while Homura is very powerful but has one specific weakness: being taken off guard or enemies getting too close, both of which Sayaka counters. Homura is the more powerful but just like how a boss in the dynamic who has a title or a lot of resources she can't do everything herself and needs someone to look after her, not just in the rare scenario that an enemy does exploit her weaknesses but also for emotional purposes: feeling safe with someone looking out for you. Personality wise, there is of course how devoted and caring Sayaka is and how "knightly acts of devotion" is written all over her, but also maybe less obviously that Homura just... needs to be able to chill sometimes. Girl literally lost sight of herself and her own identify due to the immense pressure her mission put on her. She wants to be able to protect Madoka, but she sees that as irreconcilable with the fact she needs to be protected too. She sees every part of herself that requires protection or someone else's sacrifice and devotion as an additional weight ontop of everything else she carries and I think Sayaka could help with that.

Madoka: *Just minding her business eating breakfast on a Saturday*

Her Mom: “Madoka sweetheart you do know our google photos are connected right?”

Madoka: *Freezes stiff with her toast halfway to her mouth* “Oh..?”

Her Mom: “You wanna talk about this?” *turns her phone around to show a picture*

The photo was taken by Sayaka with Madoka’s phone the previous day, a selfie of her kissing one of a beet red Madoka’s cheeks while Homura kissed the other. Mami had her arms wrapped around Madoka and her head resting on top of her’s while Kyoko stood between the two of them reaching around to hold both her hands.

Madoka: “Uh-“

Her Mom: “Looks rather intimate to me, now I recognize Sayaka Miki here but who are these other girls?”

Madoka: “I- I can explain!”

Her Mom: *Waits silently for a moment before rotating her hand impatiently*

Madoka: “I can’t explain.”

Poly quintet December rules

1)The ship in the work must at the very least consist of three characters, everything else is up to your creativity and ideas regarding the prompt (meaning a ship of Kaname Madoka/Akemi Homura would not be accepted, while Kaname Madoka/Akemi Homura/Miki Sayaka/Sakura Kyouko would be accepted)

2)You can use spin off materials characters (Oriko, Magia record, Kazumi spin off, etc) but the ship must at the very least have one or two holy quintet characters (for example, Asako Komaki/Miki Sayaka/Tomoe Mami and Mikuni Oriko/Kure Kirika/Kaname Madoka would both be accepted, but something like Mikuni Oriko/Kure Kirika/Asako Komaki would not)
