What if what's in the book in the church is actually a detailed exact description of what is about to happen to D3rlord3, like all of the bones breaking and the overwhelming and horrible death that hes about to have.
And thats why Avery just breaks completely? Like he physically doesnt hace the capacity to process something so specifically horrorfying to Derek. He cant, he won't and thats why hes so desperate to get to him in the final scene, thats why he doesnt want to quit, thats why he panics so much when D3rlord pushes him off the edge.
But thats also the reason why Derek just....underreacts because he knows what's going to happen to him. And he just...has either accepted it or hes got so much knowledge in his mind that he knows he probably wouldnt even feel it and it would be an end to his suffering.
And thats why he has to get Avery out, because he cant let Avery see what's going to happen. He cant expose him to seeing what's going to happen. Because Derek knows to leave the signs because he knows Avery cant handle the written version. So he defintley cannot handle the actually seeing it version.
And hed rather Avery's last memory of Derek being saved by him. Rather then seeing what happens to him.
And what if those flowers, the forget me nots, the blue orchids. What if Avery is placing them at the graves that belong to Derek. Not the version we see of Derek, but all of the other alternate timelines.
We know Wifies says that there is no way that Derek doesnt meet the King. So what if this is the only one where Derek wins? Well, its horrible, but it is a win. Derek defeats it.
So maybe the book also contains the thousands of attempts in different timelines where Derek fails and dies?
