A Possible Reason for the Diurnal Fae's Dislike of Lilia
Partially serious, partially crack
Lilia has mentioned several times that he has trouble getting along with diurnal fae. While this could be attributed to the conflicts that have occurred in the past between diurnal and nocturnal fae. I believe that there may be another reason. I believe that this may be a reference to the Symphony No. 5 sequence from Fantasia 2000, specifically this scene. In it a group of colorful butterflies are devoured by bats as night falls.
Lilia is a bat fae. This was theorized in the fandom for a long time, and it was confirmed in the last JP story update. While we do not know if there is a specific species of bat he is based on, many species of bats do primarily eat insects. As for how this applies to his relation ship with the diurnal fae: almost all of the diurnal fae we have seen have butterfly-like wings.
While TWST reuses sprites for many NPCs, at least in the fairy gala some of these fae were shown to be diurnal. This is why I think that this particular conflict is partially a reference to the sequence in Fantasia 2000. While the conflict of night vs day is common across many Disney movies, the winged insects vs bats theme is specific to this one segment of Fantasia. Like many things in TWST, its a reference.
Anyway, thank you for reading my rambling and have a great night!
