Auguste lives and it’s Damen’s meeting the two Veretian princes and seeing how much joy they take in each other that makes him realize that Kastor is maybe not the big brother he’s supposed to be.

It’s little things piling up; Auguste seems to panic and apologize every time he even accidentally jostles Laurent, he asks Laurent questions about his books to prompt more of his already ceaseless chatter about them and doesn’t seem to lose patience, they only ever spar using the wooden practice swords and even then Auguste still throws the matches to let Laurent win.

He doesn’t mean to compare them; he loves Kastor, and Kastor has his moments, but Auguste seeks Laurent out instead of always making Laurent chase after him, helps him with his tutors’ work like it’s part of their routine (it is), never acts around Laurent like he has any motivations to beat him in anything and it looks…nice.

He’s been away on a work trip for a few weeks, and he’s come home a few days early to surprise Laurent-- except when he lets himself into their appartment in the middle of what should be Laurent’s work day, he hears INTERESTING NOISES coming from the other room. There’s groaning, the sound of something wet, he’s sure he can hear the familiar sound of Laurent’s moaning muffled around a dick and HE’S IN SHOCK, did he really walk into a cheating cliche, is that what’s happening right now. He goes into their bedroom, expecting to find pretty much anything other than Laurent, bent in half on the bed, the head of his own dick in his mouth, and come all over his face.

Laurent looks at him from his weird, upside down position, not at all surprised to see him, and says, very casually, “Look what i’ve been practising.”

Damen gapes like a fish, it’s very attractive.

“I think i’ve got the hang of it,” Laurent goes on. “I think I can suck myself while you fuck me.”
