Devin can feel a headache forming between his eyes. It’s not an uncommon occurrence, and he knows exactly who to blame. “Do you always talk this much ?” he asks, lips barely moving around the words. It’s a trick he perfected years ago, and it’s just as useful now as it was then. “Or is it just because I can, y’know---” Devin makes a vague hand motion in her direction, “See you ?”
And since she seems friendly enough, Devin adds, “While we’re on the topic, can you do me a favor and not talk as much when I’m talking to your daughter ? I’m trying really hard to not look crazy, and that’s hard when it looks like I’m talking to thin air.” At least no one in the vicinity is paying attention to him right now.
