Hey buddy, how does Lien view her past lives? What does she learn from each one?
Until the very end of the story, Lien is completely barred from the spirit world. Have some foolishness with her successor instead
I just finished rewatching Legend of Korra book 3. Don't touch me.
idk I think the "she had to learn compassion" thing was mostly a fandom invention (which proves your point about fandom being shitty lol) I think Korra's journey was more supposed to be about her finding herself and her strength even when she wasn't able to be as powerful as she thought she should be... more about self love, you know?
As for the torture, they tortured Aang pretty bad in that one book 1 flashback we saw him in, so I think its safe to say that if he got a more mature show he wouldn't be safe either haha.
Well weren’t both shows considered children’s shows? I agree probably the writers didn’t fully consciously go “we will humiliate and beat her down so she learns her place aka to love herself” maybe it was more a subconscious decision. They also gave her more screentime and focus than Aang in ATLA where screentime felt more distributed between the whole Gaang. In Legend of Korra I have written separate posts how her Korra Gang felt like NPCs and characters that had to be side ones like Tenzin or Lin were given more attention just because they were ATLA offsprings. So maybe that’s why she goes trough so much and it sticks out because Mako, Bolin and Asami barely go trough anything especially in Book 3 where they’re literal NPCs.
And it’s not just what the writers wanted or didn’t want. It is how it came out. Nobody in the whole of the two shows besides maybe the villains is beat down and humiliated as much as Korra.
She loses to every major guy she fights, gets nearly killed every 2 seconds, gets kidnapped every 2 seconds, loses her bending, loses her memory for 5 minutes, loses her past life connection, almost loses the avatar ability, has the lowest credibility of any modern avatar, gets kidnapped, chained, poisoned and loses her ability to walk and do basic tasks by herself, is extremely weakened and traumatized in the last season and gets beat by some basic bitch metabender that throws around metal bracelets , like why pray fuck didn’tONE SINGLE other character get the same treatment as her? Not in ATLA not in LOK. Closest I can think of is Zuko.
And all of that shit is allegedly so she learns XYZ…because she couldn’t learn it any other way , besides getting her season 1 confidence literally beat out of her. I mean yeah I guess it can be inspirational for struggling people, but also she just kinda got over everything in 1 episode, which isn’t usually how most people do it. Lost bending ~ got it back next episode and forgot about Amon, Avatar Cycle broken ~ oh so sad, anyway and she moved on with her life in 1 episode and not having past lives doesn’t affect her in any way or her avatar powers, gets poisoned and has ptsd ~ resolved in like 2 episodes and suddenly her PTSD is basically non existent, sure she is still weakened but she gets over that in like 3 more episodes. Like most struggling people don’t just get over that shit in 24 hours or even 24 months….
The whole Legend of Korra series:
Anyone: I know what’s the best for you, trust me. Korra: *trusts them* Anyone: *turns out to be a manipulative son of a bitch* Korra: I can’t believe I trusted them! *beats the shit out of them*
I think the only downside of getting a husky is that eventually you want MORE HUSKIES.
oh dear god never take the flat color layer off when youre shading a face its terrifying lmao
whats really crappy is that Korra was shown in Episode 1 that she was an exceptional fighter, people said she fights well, Katara vouched for her strength and abilities but when it came to fighting the enemies she was always beaten down immediately
and the real kicker is that many fans call it "humbling" for a 17 year old girl to be tortured, threatened, manipulated, and almost killed. """she shouldnt have been so cocky"""" like are you
kidding
me
she did not ask for this and she did not need an "attitude adjustment" because believe it or not, girls can and should be proud of their abilities
