My request is more like a character analysis. I always read fanfics with Demetri and a human girl, but what if she was also a vampire from the Volturi clan? (So apart from a romance with a human or member of the Cullens). There are several topics on Tumblr that portray him as a sadistic or as a romantic, apart from the actor who considers him a Casanova (as this is not in the books I ignore). If your companion was already a vampire and had an important gift for the Volturi, would Demetri be protective of her or would he be possessive? Would he be a romantic with her or would they have their moments but would they be more emotionally independent? I love reading character reviews, I also used the translator to write this. :)

thank you for the request lovely, with my bachelor thesis period in school coming up I have been busy, it also in a way is a breath of fresh air. Sorry for the length but after my hiatus and mental health break this question made me inspired.

vampirism and their instincts

I personally think it's on a scale depending on where in his vampire life they met. I believe if it would be early in his life I think he would be more protective and possessive because in my opinion as when a human transition into being a vampire (as we se in twilight breaking dawn part 2) emotions and senses get heightened. I believe they calm down with age but doesn't disappear. the instincts that humans have but isn't as apparent or often dormant (since we aren't hunter-gatherers anymore) I can se reappearing in a way, but are most apparent in newborns as we see in eclipse. I think about newborns like vampire version of a human toddler. They are still learning and growing and then they develop into a adult vampire with age and experience and thus behave differently after they are acclimated to being a vampire and what it entails.

Demetris personality, my two cents on the actors comment and approach to demetri/Vampire relationship

I can se Demetri as a Casanova but also not. If you live a long time why shouldn't you enjoy yourself with what you find fun, fullfilling or exiting wether or not that include non explicit fun or not so to speak. If we think about it a life of a vampire can get dull if their is no change in scenery as humans also can experience that not only animals in captivity. I can see demetri as naturally charismatic and sometimes friendly-flirts with colleagues or something but not as an inherently hedonistic person but neither is he particularly modest. Also I believe he is kind of romantic. Since he was born in the first millennia somewhere I can see it depends on society standards on propriety but with age and the constant change in society I believe he would develop a sense of what we would consider romanticism. I think he also believes that it keeps relationships going and make your partner feel appreciated and loved.

Now if we talk early days in the volturi guard I think he is less secure and significantly more possessive and protective since the people in the coven aren't as familiar to him, thus can be possible threats to his beloved partner or their relationship. However the possesiveness can be more or less apparent depending on age they met. Even if you were in the coven long before him he would feel possessive but to a lesser extent since if someone wanted you to die it would have happened already. If you met later in life, he would be less wary of the people so these protective instincts (If we put it like that) mostly calmed down, they are there but not overwhelmingly so.

If he knows what happened to Didyme or was there and you where above In rank or bellow I think he would be more protective, encouraging you to be careful but at the same time balancing work so Aro doesn't se either of them as a weak link to one another as running away isn't an option ( *cough*, *cough* poor Marcus) and as much as I personally love Corin you don't want to be under her influence or actively under Chelsea’s gift for that matter .

Lastly I think with time I believe the feeling of possessiveness would fade as he settles into the coven and/or their relationship develop, When their relationship matures I think they get more emotionally independent but as any couple, they for sure make time for each other and make sure neither of them feel neglected. After all they have a long time to do things so I in the end don't think there is no rush.
