Corin reaching reader about the ways of the volturi such as their status and a few notable vampires gifts only to discover reader can copy gifts 👀✌️
Copy cat
A/N: This reminds me of life and death which I need to read after I finish Midnight sun 👀 I hope you like it! I must admit the personality I gave her in one touch has become the standard for me 🫶🏻
Warnings: none / Words: I think 1kish
Corin was the center of your attention.
You adored her. Loved her. Wanted to do anything for her. You met her through her friend, Chelsea, after Heidi lured you in through a visitation to their fortress in Volterra.
All of those women were gorgeous. Their crimson red eyes striking and their smiles so sweet it made you follow them anywhere.
But Corin was the most beautiful woman to you. Something about her made you happy. So sickly happy that you surely should get sick.
“And Felix is the executioner,” she finished.
“Oh, but what is his gift then?”
“No one has ever been able to fight him off.” Corin smiled, “he is the strongest vampire anyone has ever seen. I doubt a stronger vampire will ever be born.”
“Wow.”
“Demetri is the tracker. He can find you anywhere, no matter what you do.”
“Every gifted vampire is a high guard?”
She nodded, “unless the gift is not qualified for missions or trials. Afton can be invisible but it’s not strong enough. He is therefore a status below Demetri and Felix.”
You looked at her cloak. It was almost entirely black. Only one shade darker than the twins and she shared the shade with Chelsea. You remembered that Heidi did not wear a cloak, “what about Heidi? I know what she does.”
Corin gave you a smile. She knew you were a little careful around Heidi. If Corin had not attended the feeding, you would have died at Heidi’s hands.
“Heidi’s status is outside of our ranking system. She feeds us. However, I believe she is considered the same as Demetri and Felix. Useful, important, however if anyone ever comes with a similar gift of greater range; she would be replaced. The twins for example shall never be replaced.”
You gulped.
Corin reassured you, “you are my mate. It does not matter that you do not have a gift. You cannot be sent away.”
“Thank you,” you sighed. “I feel a little like Afton in a way.”
“You could always talk to him! I am sure he can provide you with information and reassurance that it’s okay. Perhaps you can spend time with him anyway when I am tending to my tasks. A friend would be good for you.”
“I shall ask him.”
You both heard the quiet footsteps of the tracker. Demetri did not speak as he knocked on the door. You were in Corin’s private chambers.
“What is it, Demetri?” She let him inside.
He politely greeted her, then you. You had only seen him at the feeding, before you were turned. He was beautiful too. And quiet, very quiet.
You heard the laughter of him once when he was with Felix and Heidi. Quite the introvert, similar to Corin you thought.
“I will leave tomorrow with Felix for our annual visit to the covens overseas. Do you need anything from there?”
Corin smiled cheekily, “could you get me one of those flower boxes again? I heard there is a new collection coming.”
“Of course,” he smiled charmingly.
You gulped when he looked at you. He extended his hand to you, clearly wanting to introduce himself to you properly.
“You are the new one,” he grinned. “Welcome to our coven.”
You accepted his hand, “thank you.”
He took his hand away quickly when you fell to the floor. The thousand different images of people you knew inside this fortress, where they were standing, where they moved towards, it all appeared at once inside your mind. It was painful, you let out a scream.
“What’s wrong? Love, please answer us.” Corin hurriedly sat down next to you, afraid to touch you.
“It hurt,” you cried. “When he touched me.”
Demetri took a step backwards.
“Don’t touch me,” you yelped when Corin grabbed your hand.
When she touched you, you suddenly felt a strange sense for how happy and content everyone was.
“Did you? Did you just see everything I see?” Demetri asked.
You put your head between your knees. The images were gone again but the pain stayed for now.
“I- I don’t know.”
“Do you still?” Corin stayed close.
“I- I don’t see anything anymore.”
“Master Aro must see her,” Demetri frowned. “This is unique.”
“Are you saying I have a gift?” You looked up at him. Then at Corin, “should I be worried?”
“No,” she hesitated. “It just means you will have responsibilities too. We should go to master Aro now.”
You groaned, trying to get up slowly.
“Felix was waiting for you,” you whispered to Demetri. “I saw-“
His frown deepened and he shared a look with Corin.
“How do you handle that? How do you live peacefully with all that happening at once in your mind? You are like a living gps.” You looked at Corin next, “and you? You keep people happy? Do you keep me happy? How does that make you happy?” You cried.
“Love, let’s just go to master first? He can help you, answer your questions.”
“Okay,” you took a shaky breath. “I can do that.”
“Corin? Do I need to stay close?” Demetri asked Corin.
She shook her head, “I can handle it. I will let you know what he says but surely the news will spread fast. It seems my mate is a copycat.”
Copycat?
You could copy their gifts?
How dangerous would that be for everyone?
Suddenly the way Demetri looked at you and the way Corin hesitated, made sense. But how? You held Corin’s hand before and nothing happened. Was this just a one time thing or did it need time to develop?
“That worries me,” Demetri whispered. He left quickly.
“Shall we go, love?” Corin tried to be enthusiastic. You could feel content again. She was exercising her gift on you.
“I don’t want anyone to be sent away because of me.”
“You do not have anyone’s gift I believe,” Corin reassured you again. “Your gift would be good for other reasons. Other tasks. But let’s first speak to our masters, they know better than we what you just experienced.” She guided you through the halls of the fortress. The masters were close already, the throne room was not far from Corin’s chambers.
You sighed, carefully smiling again, “I could be a high guard too?”
“If you are really a copycat, then yes.”
“We would spend more time together?”
Corin giggled, “I hope so.”
“I did like that,” you giggled too now.
“Me too.”
