ANNA: “Welcome back to the magic bracket! Next up, Elrean and Corvo will take the stage to dazzle you with displays of lightning and darkness! ... Huh. This is the first non-wind based match we’ve had today. I wonder what caused the shift in popularity this year... In any case-- Break a leg, both of you! Your Grace? Prince Chrom? I turn it over to you now!”
EMM: “Thunder and Dark... this should be a wonderful display. Combined, these two could conjure quite a storm.”
CHROM: "...Was that a pun?”
FAVOR: pendant (windsprodigy)
SHELL: snail
Thunder Element
First Spell: 17 (4 pts)
Elrean is confident as he takes to the stage, reciting his prepared incantation with ease. Six orbs of light form one after another and begin to rotate in a circle as they rise into the air, each firing off a very small, controlled bolt of lightning one after another; The imagery evokes the shining sun, and sets the already bright stage practically aglow.
Second Spell: NAT 1 (0 pts)
Third Spell: 3 (1 pt)
Unfortunately, it seems maintaining such a precise, controlled cast before has taken much more energy than Elrean expected. His next spell struggles to take shape, what was meant to be a miniature stormcloud comes off as more of a wispy mess, and the resulting lightning strikes are weak.
EMM: “Well done! I can see what he was going for with that. He’ll need to practice his technique for thunder clouds, but bravo all the same.”
FAVOR: ribbon from Irene (@spdtactics )
SHELL: lion’s paw
Dark Element
Snail DISADVANTAGE: 4 (1 pt)
Fourth Spell: NAT 1 (0 pts)
Lion’s Paw Bonus: 8 (2 pts)
There’s something noticeably different about casting for battle versus casting for an appeal, and clearly it shows: Corvo’s spell is slow and shaky, shadowy tendrils raising from his tome in plumes of violet smoke. They flicker in and out, pulsing as they struggle in the sun, but ultimately persist.
FAVOR BONUS: 11 (3 pts)
Brushing a hand against the ribbon ‘round his wrist gives Corvo the determination to salvage his performance and give a strong finish, if nothing else. With that renewed will, the dark mage melds the tendrils of shadow into two crows. The crows take to the skies, soaring around the audience in a simple loop before melding into one, which comes to rest on Corvo’s outstretched arm and finally disperses into smoke.
EMM: “This was a very close match, but in the end, it goes to Corvo! His creativity gave him a leg up in this match.”
CHROM: "Those crows were reminiscent of a certain someone, not that it should be any surprise given who Corvo is. Too bad for Elrean that his Khadein style magic wasn’t enough to beat him!”
