Best places to position your air purifier
A correctly placed air purifier can increase its efficiency by 20%. Whereas if you place the purifier wrongly it can decrease its efficiency drastically. You have purchased a good quality HEPA filter air purifier but for maximum utilisation, it’s really important to put it in the right place. Also, if you have a portable air purifier it is not advisable to carry it around with you.
Where is the best place to position your air purifier you ask? This post will help you find out the place to position your air purifier.
1- Place the air purifier beside the worst air pollutants - You should place the purifier where the concentration of air pollutants is high, even if it's your dog bed that's stinking in the other room, place it beside their pad!
Place the purifier closer to the source and you will see a quick solution to your problem.
Generally, an air quality specialist will use an air quality monitor to find out where the pollutants are in abundance. But we do not need a specialist. We can easily use our senses to find places with excessive pollutants. For example, with our nose, we can detect Odors or foul-smelling air that is an indicator of an excessive concentration of unwanted air pollutants such as tobacco smoke or oil smoke.
So keep the purifier closer to the source and the air quality will improve rapidly.
2- Keep it off the ground - A HEPA filter air purifier removes 99.7 percent of the airborne particulate matter circulating in your home but it can work efficiently only when it can efficiently clean the floor-to-ceiling circulation. Keeping the air purifier off the ground will not only prevent a tripping hazard but increases the floor-to-ceiling cleaning efficiency by trapping airborne particles near the ceiling much quicker. If you have a portable air purifier hang it on the wall like a painting.
3- Don’t keep it in a corner - The airflow around the corners is the lowest. When you place an air purifier in a corner you underutilize it and restrict it from efficiently purifying the air. By placing it on the corner you block it from two sides and reduce its efficiency.
4- Keep it away from obstacles - You want air to reach the purifier without any hindrance. Do not keep it behind your TV set to create some space in your living room because an air purifier needs at least 3 feet of space in all directions to function in full swing. Give your purifier space so that it can work easily and much quicker.
5- Don’t put them in high humid places - Humid air means heavy air which will decrease the capacity of your purifiers (Especially Hepa Filter air purifier).
Places like the kitchen and bathroom have high humidity which becomes a ground to breed mold. So, it's advisable to combine the purifier with a dehumidifier when you are not using the place. The key is to remember that the relative humidity should be lower than 50%.
6- Keep your purifier away from electronic gadgets - Some gadgets run within the same range of wavelength as the purifier which can cause a hindrance. Avoid placing them near electronic gadgets like televisions, stereo equipment, etc. A minimum distance of 5 feet is suggested.
You can see a huge difference in your air quality with a rightly placed air purifier. Move it around and experience the difference in air quality.
