If I was making @CW_SPN #Supernatural Spinoff, what I would do if for a solid spinoff.
So after my post yesterday, I sat at work bored last night and started brainstorming up what I would do to make a long running series out of this Supernatural: Origins idea I keep seeing people posting. So if I was the CW and I was going to go with the history lesson everyone seems to want, here is what I think I would do to really build up the back story:
Season 1, 1958 Men of Letters and Hunters.
Actors needed: Gil McKinney, Alaina Huffman, someone to play Henry's wife, a younger version of Mitch Pileggi and a younger Deanna Campbell, a kid John Winchester and a Mary Campbell. some hunters and MOLs
This season can cover some MOL history until Henry and Abaddon time jump and the destruction of the Men of Letters for that side, And also, since the MOL ran dispatch on hunters, Samuel may have learned a lot of what he knew from them. Samuel and Henry might even have cross paths a few times and they would hate each other. Then you have some hunting episode following the Campbells and some following Henry and Josie working on their initiation. Mid-Season, you get the story from "Mothers Little Helpers" (S9 ep17) and something equally season myth climatic for the Hunters. End of Season, Henry and Abaddon time jump in fleshed out version of "As Time Goes By" (S8ep12), and something bad happens, probably to Deanna like serious a injury due to betrayal that makes Samuel resolve never to work with other Hunters. The Campbells move, start working solo, raising Mary in the life.
Season 2: jump forward to 1970 to 1973.
actors needed: Mitch Pileggi, Matt Cohen, Amy Gumenick , any other Campbells, Henry's wife and whoever is raising John (stepfather, cause Henry was gone and the guy at the bar tells him to say 'hi' to his old man)
John and Mary living in Lawrence, Kansas. He wants to date Mary, she's keeps putting him off, finally agrees maybe to go to prom or something, etc etc. Samuel really disapproves, recognizes his name, instant dislike. Mary and John start dating, but Samuel's disapproval is obvious and might influence why John decides to join the military, trying to prove he is man enough for Mary, two years pass, letter writing, military stuff for John, training etc. and of course, hunting for Mary/Family.
Season Finale, John comes back and we get a retelling or fleshed out version of "In the Beginning" (S4ep4) mixing some new footage with the old, end with a nice little wedding.
Season 3 and on: forward to1982 and then onward
Actors needed: Matt Cohen, Amy Gumenick (for a few eps and flashback scenes), someone to play a Little Dean, baby/little Sam, Bobby, Rufus, Ellen and her hubby eventually, Baby Jo....etc. and eventually Adam's mom.
We all know what happens once Sammy gets to six months. (S1ep1) So at this point, we launch fully into the whole John starts hunting thing. It can go one for a few seasons, I would think. but as for the age off the boys, I wouldn't go past Dean reaching 12. Honestly, I would end it with the whole Ellen's Husband getting killed mess. And along the way you could flesh out Bobby and Rufus' story, too.
I think this is what I would like to see. You could probably skip the first two season ideas but I think they would be nice to have. I wish I was a script writer cause this could be a lot of fun. I would love to work on this. And if they do it right, there could be so many points where it ties with in events that happened in the original series. And also some Gabriel (Loki style), a lot of Azazel, maybe even Crowley could appear.
