Ok so I’m majoring in gender women and sexuality studies and am noticing some transphobic red flags. I’m not sure if it’s just this one professor or a more systemic issue….. can any gwss/wgss people weigh in???

Things people have Told me as a trans guy

1. “I’m glad I could support you in your transgender”.

2. “You’re trans? That’s cool! Girls look great in boxers!”

3. “Binders flatten your chest slowly and eventually, you won’t even need top surgery.”

4. “Why do you have to be trans? Just be gay.”

5. “ You are a misogynist!”

6. “Can I still call you *dead name*?”

I was thinking Christmas Songs (mostly British ones that are apparently not as well known outside the U.K.) and there's this one song that I like but I realise now the singer is...not that great.

Not that he's a terrible singer, he's actually really good but-

There's this comedian who's very well known and occationally does charity singles. Years ago, he did a special which is p much a spoof of talent shows like Pop Idol and Britian's Got Talent. He played a 50 odd year old woman Irish woman who wanted to sing, kind of a spoof of Susan Boyle.

I'm not entirely fussed by the cross dressing. It's the fact that he was playing a trans woman that now irks me. And yes, that part was played for laughs.

Anyway, he released a Christmas song as that persona, which I do really like. I just wish he didn't pretend to be trans and mock them while doing it.

Ok so i dont think my parents+grand parents are transphobic, but instead of correcting themselves when they use the wrong pronouns for trans people, they said that ‘they get some things wrong because of their generation’. When i brought this up to them, requesting that i play the recorder if they get the pronouns wrong, they started talking about the effects of violent protest and peaceful protest, ie. stonewall.

Am i stupid? Are they stupid? Am i getting over my head with this?

hm... do you think it's transphobic to suggest someone's trans as a joke if they're openly transphobic? bc something happened in the irl gc... (hate being closeted)
