Going to Mad Decent block party DC ayye if you're going hmu
So guys,
What would it take YOU to make the trek out to Merriweather Post Pavilion for a show, besides just a band that you really like? You have the car already, but what would make you pay $40 and drive for two hours round trip? I need to brainstorm so inbox me.
The Merriweather Kids
Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavillion 10.2.12 Emily’s Account What an amazing show that was. A pretty appropiate choice for an opener, Micachu and The Shapes came from the uk to tour along side with the boys. With Micachu’s impressive musical background and her edgy style she really put on a good show. When Animal Collective flowed into their first jam I cried without noticing because of how beautiful it was. It may have been partly because of the hit of acid I took but that is another story. Any Animal Collective fan is a fan because they understand that AC has the ability to start a revolution in “music”. If you can sit down for 60 minutes and listen to an entire Animal Collective album then you know AC is art. They even have ODD SAC, a visual album. Last August I experienced seeing the experimental band at Merriweather, but it was nowhere near as fun as this october. The show was jaw dropping. Last year the stage was set up with some giant crystal skulls off to the sides and an underwater theme with metalic fishies behind the band. This year the stage was set up to look like they were inside of a mouth, the teeth were all different colors. They also had trippy as movies projecting across the entire stage correlating with the music. Animal Collective played a slow jam off their newest album, a flying white bird was projected into the sky and after that I was completely emerged in the music. I became one with the band as I stood on a steep hill and danced with a group of about 50-100 carefree individuals. I met a few douchebags (sadly they infest the earth and are everywhere), however I met a really great group of people, genuine people. Those kids were beautiful. Me, my cousin and my new friend helped a girl change her tire so she could get home before we left. Animal Collective was beautiful. My cousin said that “we” as in everyone at the show on 10.2.12 are apart of Animal Collective because we make-up Merriweather Post Pavilion, which is the name of one of my favorite albums. I could say so much more but I really got to get to bed my eyes are fighting with me. I never planned this writting out or read over it so don’t judge me for being gramatically incorrect.
