On The Basketball Tryouts

So you know unkind basketball guy in the promo? What if throughout his unkindness we see Marty and Buffy slowly getting more frustrated with him, and Buffy and Unkind-Basketball-Guy being at a stalemate. I assume in the end of the episode she’ll beat him, or they’ll be equals, setting up a long term rivalry.

Regardless, I’d like to see Marty slowly getting more frustrated, and saying nothing about it to Unkind-Basketball-Guy. I want it to show his character growth from “The fastest girl will never be faster than the fastest guy,” to “I won’t say anything, because I believe in her to fight her own battles, and I want her to totally defeat this jerk and prove how amazing she is and how capable women are.”

I’m hoping for him to not step in, so that Unkind-Basketball-Guy realizes that he should stop being unkind - not because he was called out by a guy, but because he respects Buffy. I want Buffy to be the one who calls him out. Don’t get me wrong, I thing Marty being supportive is fantastic, and I love it, but I want this to really be Buffy’s time to shine and stand up for herself. Then afterwards we can have a fantastic Muffy interaction of some kind.

So yeah those are my hopes for the basketball team tryout arc.
