“Hey…”
Waxer lives. Period.
My submission for week 3 of @waxerboilmonth “Waxer lives” prompt.
~After the events on Umbara~
Fives: ...So yeah, that's what happened.
Anakin: Oh my God. That's horrible. How's everyone doing?
Fives: We're copping, but Rex took it the hardest. I've never seen him so upset.
Anakin: Where is he?
Fives: In the shower.
Anakin: Shower?
Fives: Yeah, when Rex gets upset he takes REALLY long showers.
Anakin: How long will he be in there?
Fives: I don't know. He took a chair in there.
Anakin: *mumbling to himself in Huttese* What a waste of water.
Anakin: REX, GET OUT OF THE SHOWER!
Rex, from across the building: NO!

“What? You’re following Krell’s orders?”
Rex shrugged helplessly. “I have to. He’s my general.”
“He’s an asshole who doesn’t deserve to be a Jedi,” she said incredulously. She jerked a finger at the medbay. “He’s the reason I’ve been filling out coroner’s paperwork in between the flood of patients. He’s going to get you all killed, and then I’m going to have even more paperwork to do. He’s a horrible general and he should be stripped of his command.”
“And who’s going to do that? You? Me? You’re a medic with no commendations or medals, and I’m a clone. He won’t listen to us. My hands are tied.”
“He doesn’t need to listen. He needs to fall off a kriffing building.”

Rex tries to get his men through Umbara unscathed. A medic makes his job difficult.
Fives looks over at Jesse as the captain leaves the room. "Well," he mumbles. "Thats that then. Congrats Jesse we gets to live another day."
"Yeah. I.. guess." Jesse looks down at his feet."Over and done with. No more Umbara, Krell, or.." he trails off.
"What is it?" Fives asks.
Jesse clenches his fists."I just- do you really think the captain would have let them execute us?" He looks up at Fives. "Do you really think the captain would have let them if Krell had his way? I mean yeah we were able to avoid it the first time but what if Krell had really pushed for it?"
Fives sighs. "Jesse, the captain did everything he could to help us, the right way. There is only so much he can do when he has so many other brothers to take care of." He puts a hand on Jesse's shoulder. "He always tries to do right by us. You know that."
"I don't know what to think anymore, Fives." Jesse stands up, shaking Fives hand away from him. "All I know, is we were standing at the end of the blasters of our brothers. Even Kix was there and ready to-"
"They weren't ready to do anything! You saw them. They all dropped there weapons! They all stopped what they were doing." Fives exclaimed, trying to convince himself."They would never have shot us for the wrong reason, would they? They were only trying to follow orders of a corrupt general."
Jesse turns to walk out of the room."And Dogma?" He pauses, looking over his shoulder.
Fives rubs the back of his neck. "Look Jesse. You know how Dogma is with following orders- how we all are. He was only there to make sure an ordered was followed through. But you saw what he did to Krell. Even he came around later on."
"That's not what I meant." Jesse shakes his head again. "Where is Dogma right at this moment, Fives?"
"I.. don't know." Fives lies, looking over at the cold grey walls of the ship. "The last time I saw him they were just.. taking him away."
"With a firing squad. Of our own brothers."
"We have to trust in each other, Jesse." Five pleads. "We have to trust in each other, our brothers, the General. We will never win this war if we are fighting each other."
Jesse grabs his helmet from the desk and looks back at Fives sadly."If we were so easy to divide back there like we were back on Umbara, then there is no hope for any of us."
Dogma
mentioned Umbara arc
is quite a softy when his brothers don't do something against regulations. He once snuck out of the camp to buy a snack for Kix because Kix has been overworking himself and desperately needed a little bit of sugar.
Also, Dogma is in LOVE with his gun. He's taking great care of it, always cleaning it up perfectly. It even has a name, but he won't tell anyone because they only make fun of him. "Don't worry, Robertha, they won't mock you like they mock me."
There are rumors that Dogma was quite a butthead back on Kamino - going against regs regularly. They reconditioned him and intensified the loyalty training, so his failure on Umbara is entirely on the Kaminoans. fite me

Warnings: vulgar language death and violence
You ran a hand through your hair. You never should’ve sent your troopers to reinforce your former master you knew better than that. 700 casualties out of the 1000 troopers in your battalion.
You growled and threw your data pad at the wall. It shattered into pieces. 700 men. Killed because you were foolish. 700 men that wasn’t even counting the injured and the members of the 501st.
You collected yourself and left your lightsaber on the desk. The halls were quiet. The 501st was suffering.
Pain echoed around the ship. Your Commander paused and looked up at you. He looked so broken.
“Commander how are the rest of the men?” You offered a small smile.
“Struggling.” He murmured.” You might want to go talk to Captain Rex.”
“Alright. Get some rest Pierre.” You placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.” My quarters are open if you need space.”
“Thank you General.” He smiled slightly. It didn’t quite reach his eyes.” It’s not your fault sir.”
“I should’ve known better Pierre and I apologize.”
“General l/n the council is contacting you.” You turned to look at one of the communications officers.
“Lead the way.” You followed him up to the bridge.
“General it’s General Krell he-.”The troopers-Private Ridges-call cut off in an agonized scream before the call went static.
“Can I have the room?” You asked the communications officers. They nodded and left.
“Knight l/n what is going on?” Master Windu asked.” Captain Rex reports Master Krell is dead.”
“He is master.”
“Hiding something you are.” Grandmaster Yoda looked you over.
“This report is one I believe should be given in person Masters. I’d like to include Captain Rex Commander Cody and Commander Pierre.”
“See you when you return we will. Safe travels I wish you young l/n. Deeply sorry we are for the loss of your master.” You stiffened slightly.
“Thank you Grandmaster.” You bowed slightly. The call ended and you left as quickly as you could.
“Am I understood Padawan. They’re bred for this. Disobey my orders again and you’ll be joining them.”
“General if I may.” Commander Shirken started.
“Silence. This is a Jedi matter clone. Nothing for the likes of you.” Krell growled.
“General l/n can we talk.” You snapped out of your head and looked up at the 501sts fiery Arc Trooper.
“Of course Fives right?”
“General l/n I understand you’re General Krells former Padawan.” He didn’t answer the question.
“That is correct.” You shifted slightly.
“Why didn’t you do anything.” He snapped. A fire burned in his eyes.” My men died because you didn’t bother speaking up. What the kriff is wrong with you sir.”
“Are you deficient. Look at me when I speak Padawan.” Krells grip on your wrist tightened. The bone creaked under the pressure.” Never embarrass me like that again. Understand.”
“But Master I.” He squeezed a little harder.
“Never again understand. Force what is wrong with you.”
“Well Sir?” Fives stared you down. You hastily brushed a few stray tears from your eyes. He faltered.” You’re still afraid of him sir?”
You looked down at your feet and nodded slightly. His eyes widened guiltily.”
“I’m sorry sir I was out of line I just I.”
“No no you’re right. If you’ll excuse me.” You smiled reassuringly.
“Sir he can’t hurt you anymore. I’m sorry I was upset I shouldn’t have taken it out on you.”
You nodded and quickened your pace. Tears prickled at the corners of your eyes.
There was a storm coming. One too powerful too hurt to stop.
(Just a little sketch I wipped up, and some heartbreak to go with it)
...
He sees him everywhere.
He turns around and sees the same smile, the same frown, the same twinkle in the eye and the same dark hair. His face surrounds him, but it is not truly his.
"Hey, Boil," someone calls and for a moment, just a moment, he thinks it is him, that he is back, that he never died. But when he turns he sees Wooley coming towards him, datapad in hand.
He's gone, and he's never coming back.
He will never again hear his Vod teasing him about his moustache. Never again have to come up with a reason as to why there was another loth cat on board. Never again get to listen to his companion complain about how he got his goatee just a little bit crooked, that it was slightly sloping towards the left.
He's gone, and he's never coming back.
He felt cold. Not the kind of cold you feel when you are out on a campaign on a frozen planet, this was a different cold.
This coldness started in his chest and slowly spread throughout his body. He felt hollow, empty, lonely. But he was supposed to be tough, to get over death. It was what he was made for, after all. But he couldn't- he couldn't forget.
He closed his eyes. If he closed his eyes, Waxer was alive, so alive that he could hear him calling his name. It was like he was really there. A single tear slid down his cheek.
"Boil, are you alright?"
He opened his eyes again and there he was, standing next to him, as if nothing had happened.
"Boil?"
No, not Waxer. Wooley. No more Waxer. His light had been snuffed out like a candle.
Wooley was next to him, a concerned look on his face.
He quickly wiped away the tear and stood up a little straighter.
"Yeah, I- I'm fine, Vod. Now what were you saying?"
But that tear didn't go away. It left a damp spot in his heart, a spot that wouldn't dry. Not that day, or the next, or the one after that. It never left. It became a reminder. A constant reminder.
That he was gone, and he was never coming back.
