Sugary-sweet post-pop electronica brimming with Top 40 aneurisms, sexual innuendo and bubblegum bass, Sophie’s debut singles compilation was as absurd as one would expect given her iconic pedigree. From the ridiculous bass wumps of ‘Elle’ to breathless pace-keeping of ‘MSMSMSM’, the whole record teases with its own deliberate lack of substance and self-aware cheesiness. Product, in only its brief twenty-five minutes of illogically rapid electronic music, aptly sums up why Sophie is one of this decades most important and iconic electronic pop artists and exactly why her music has deemed her those titles.
