i’ve had a few anons send asks and headcanon y/n as being a good artist and i had some thoughts so i want to expand on this a bit!!

after the war, y/n notices that zuko avoids the hall where portraits of previous firelords are. he’ll even go the long way around the palace to get to a meeting.

y/n sees this and it makes her really sad. this is his home and the last thing he needs is to feel haunted by his shitty ancestors. so she does something about it. she gets rid of all the paintings of ozai and azulon and sozin, p much all the bad guys, and works on her own painting of zuko. 

she spends weeks and weeks on the portrait. she holes herself in her room so much that zuko actually thinks she’s mad at him for something. she uses messy sketches as models and she does them on the sly whenever she gets the chance–dinner, meetings, or when they’re just hanging out.

when it’s done, she has it hung in the hall and she’s never been more proud of anything in her whole life. she devises a plan with kiyi to get zuko to go in the hall by playing a game of tag. 

kiyi runs into the hall and zuko chases her and he catches sight of something different. 

and it’s him. well, an oil portrait of him, hanging on the wall where his father’s used to be. it’s regal looking; for the first time ever he can see himself as fire lord. he doesn’t know what to say, but he knows it was y/n because of the smile she’s wearing just watching him stare up at himself. 

he’s not one for vanity, he didn’t care one way or another if he ever got a portrait but he doesn’t get a chill down his spine when he walks down that hall anymore.

misc poly zukka stuff: druk and the polar dogs play together, three daughters (waterbender, firebender, izumi- this is also going under the assumption izumi is a non-bender), potential angst oppurtunities involving azula!! woo!! Babeyyy, we been KNEW that you were this blogs resident Zuko Simp!!

First off, I’m doing great!! I start classes tomorrow and I’m just so ready to be done with school (even though that means getting a Big Girl job 😩) I hope that you’ve been doing good as well!!!

I feel like I’m going to lose people w/ this post but I have been thinking about this ship since July so if it’s not your thing, just ignore this post bc i have no self control :) 

On to the poly Zukka + Y/N stuff 😏(bc let me tell you I have so many HCs piled up from not telling you guys-but now that’s it out... take them all):

- does the angst with Azula come from the fact that she is not the Third Partner but in fact her brother is and she’s jealous of him?? Hell yes. But also, like Auntie Azula and her three nieces that love her to pieces. 

- BEEFY PARTNERS–I’m fucking crying at that image, but it’s true, he likes to feel all cuddled up and protected. Sokka and Y/N switch being the biggest spoon and the littlest spoon, but Zuko is always in the middle. Bonus points for when they visit the South Pole and Zuko is their heater. 

- Druk and the dogs totally play!!! they’ve literally destroyed the gardens so many times they are only allowed to play on the training grounds anymore so no flower/tree/bush casualties. 

- I definitely HC Izumi as a non-bender, and she’s also the oldest!! And an Accident. I know you’re not supposed to say children are accidents but like, she is.. Y/N and Zuko never intended on having children together. But an oops happened and because everyone in the Fire Nation already knew that Y/N was Zuko’s advisor and very clearly dating the Water Tribe Ambassador and War Hero, Sokka, she couldn’t really just say, “Uh! Now I’m the Fire Lady, Oh and here’s an heir!!” 

- So Zuko literally decides not to marry anyone. He tells everyone he adopted Izumi or smth and made her his heir. There are rumors around the Fire Nation that the reason why is because he takes male lovers but no one really listens to them or cares. He might have made gay marriage legal in the Fire Nation again, but a poly relationship is a whole other thing. He’s got his boy and his girl, and he’s happy just like that. No one knows the truth outside the family and a few trusted palace servants and nannies. No one questions why Y/N is so close to Izumi, so motherly because like literally they all think she doesn’t have a mother and Y/N is just a kind person who is stepping up in that role. 

- this can also be HCed as Zuko still marries Mai for the Political aspect of it and for show Mai pretends that Izumi is her daughter when they have to (but then it gets all complicated b/c Zuko legalizes gay marriage and obviously MaiLee is a thing so like they should be able to be Out and Happy lesbians.) 

- another hc is that the three of them hide their throuple from all the gaang for literally years. the first time they tell everyone is when Y/N is pregnant with Izumi and she’s like, “hahah, so like guess what!” Katara wants to literally kill her until she realizes that she didn’t cheat on Sokka and that Sokka was probably (unknowingly) present at the literal conception. None of them were the wiser and they all feel like fucking idiots when it comes out.

i will save you the embarrassment by only answering this one but just so you know i literally laughed so hard i cried when I saw the first ask.

bc you asked so nicely ;) I have hakodad & y/n headcanons because i can’t help myself:

- he loves Y/N, like truly thinks of her as a member of his family, as he does all of the kids imo, but she’s special because she reminds him of Katara. Both are strong-willed and stubborn. 

- he respects her a lot as a person. She is still a child and her values changed so much and he thinks its admirable for someone so young to change their beliefs and flips sides the way she did

- He also sees her as being extremely brave that goes beyond to borderline recklessness. Which totally makes him want to Dad(TM) her. She is obviously more invested in those around her than she is in herself and that’s why he followed her when she left to draw the soldiers away

- anyone who can put Sokka in his place like she can, is good in Hakoda’s book. He loves his son, of course but sometimes Sokka needs a smack on the back of the head (see: s1 ep 1 and ep 4, and probably a bunch more examples) and Y/N is there to do that 

- I genuinely think that he has a special relationship with the Fire Nation kids, i.e. Y/N and Zuko (and maybe even Azula to an extent??? Idk i would need to explore that later) He basically saw them and was like, is no one going to parent these kids? and didn’t wait for a fucking answer. these kids have come so far from their upbringings to help usher in a world of peace that a thousands of ADULTS couldn’t even do.

okay so when y/n and sokka are older and y/n is already about to have their first daughter,,, i 100% believe that sokka would buy so many little clothes and shoes and y/n is like “sokka she’s not even born yet and she already has more clothes than me” and sokka is just like “i know but look how tiny these socks are” bye them as parents makes me so soft 🥺 -🌈 anon

Y/N and Sokka as parents literally makes me weep i fucking love them

I’m actually so happy that you mentioned something about their kids because I I have been thinking about making a fucking post about almost this exact thing for days, rainbow anon!!! 

so like, hear me out... I don’t think that Y/N likes kids.. like obviously she doesn’t hate them, she isn’t going to be mean to them or anything, she just can’t be around them for long periods of time...until she has her own. 

I headcanon that she is really, really anxious about her first baby because she just doesn’t like them. She loves her nieces and nephews, she cares very deeply for the kids she’s around but the thought of raising her own scares her because she’s afraid she’s going to be sick of them or grow to hate them being around them so much or whatever. 

Sokka is the complete opposite, like he loves being around kids because he pretty much grew up raising all of the kids in his village and he is ready for kids like way sooner than Y/N. 

So like I think when they do get pregnant it’s like an accident, and she’s so freaked out by it and she doesn’t know what to do, and probably the entire first half of it is her hoping that it was all a mistake until she clearly starts showing and then she’s like “well, fuck that’s real” 

of course her and Sokka have a lot of heart to hearts about kids and her feelings about them before she gets pregnant and they have like, a million more after it actually happens. Sokka fully jumps in to the Dad role, telling her that everything is okay, and he does the whole, buys out the entire store of baby clothes for his Princess, right and Y/N lets him, 1. because she’s in a little bit of denial 2. it’s something that Sokka likes, and wants to do so she’s encouraging him. 

but, despite all her worries how good of a mother she was going to be she’s like so head over heels in love with her daughter when she’s born and there is no doubt that she is a fantastic mom.

okay..... so y/n and sokka have twins..... a firebender and waterbender........ but i wanna know....... which one ends up with lin beifong

listen,,, i fully ship Lin and Kya but if I had to make a choice I would say the firebender and I have no explanation for it

to be fair the poly relationship has been part of the story to me since chapter 5-6. and god, i fucking hope i get things right i’m more worried about it now that y’all are going to be expecting it🥺
