Bites&KMs Tops
This list should be always considered a WIP - these are my top places in the world, either for their locations, the memories attached to them or the delicious food they offered me:
Anything from Cuc Gach Quan, specially if it comes with Tamarind sauce.
Home made Polenta con tuco - specially Dad’s tuco, who’s recipe is originally from el Nono.
La pizza della Nona, with its raw tomato sauce and thick and airy dough done on the most amazing tray.
My mom’s Pascualina, cheese souffle and beer chicken.
Poke Bowls from Apoke Theory in Singapore. (I’m coming back for you!)
The lemon cannoli from Sigtuna.

Home made noodles with tons of chicharron from Spicy Noodle Cart Man in Saigon (first in District 1, later moved to District 3)
The home made pasta, specifically the spinach ravioli, 100% fatto in casa by my Dad.
Mango sticky rice from the streets of Bangkok, specially with the pine-nuts pieces on top of it.
Iced Peach Tea from the downstairs cafe at Phibious’s Vietnam office in HCMC.
Le Pain Quotidien’s croissant (and if it’s in Paris, even better) + Mamans ones in the US.
My cousin’s Isla Flotante.
A warm, well done chocolate volcano with vainilla ice-cream gives me little foodgasms.
The dry mushroom snacks as well as the beef jerky from my friend Larissa make office cravings less cravings.
The delicious taste of any cold leftover pizza in the morning when the hangover starts to hit (“I love the smell of leftover pizza in the morning!.. yummy!)
Paulie’s Gee Slide in Greenpoint (A Freedy Prince Square or a Pepperoni to go)
Soup and Pork Dim Sum at Din Tai Fung in Singapore.
Baked BBQ Pork Bun at Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong... Mmm... Yu-mmy! (although good enough, in Times Square they are not the same)
Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate with whipped cream turns every morning or regular blogging afternoon into a great one.
Pork Gyosa menu with the special sauce (3 parts soy sauce, 2 parts japanese vinager, 1 part chilli) from Gyosa King, although the last time it wasnt as good as it used to be in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore.
The Homemade guacamole from Foragers became my new guilty pleasure in Brooklyn.
Fondente (extremely dark chocolate) flavour and White Chocolate Ice-cream from Arlechino, Punta del Este.
My mom’s “feijoada” is another win, specially during a cold winter day after a few days of made (the soup gets extra flavors with more days on the pan).
Masitas from Peregrin, specially the dark chocolate with passion fruit ones (Montevideo)
Pret-a-manger home made brownie. Man... that thing is simply delicious when craving a chocolate fix - which is never a bad idea-, specially while shooting in London.
Oxwell & Co. signature Gin & Chronic* - the home made tonic made with cinnamon and a cucumber+ginger twist, @ Ann Sian Hill, Singapore.
I know the creamy pesto Pasta Genovese from Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco (linguine, pesto cream, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts) would most definitely become one of my favorites spots on the US.
My quiche lorraine and my improvised pasta are something I’m proud of - and it’s true, “panza llena, corazon contento” -full belly, happy heart - since I got all my love stories beginning with food, and getting intense after I showcased my culinary skills.
Never - I repeat - never, underestimate the power of a simple, yet delicious, home made, fried, Milanesa. If my mom’s make it, even better.
21 Greenpoint bone marrow and seven spiced crusted tuna at Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Annela’s home made, freshly baked and warm bread (my friend Mary would baptize it “pan maceta”) also in Greenpoint.
Tuna’s Tostada and tacos from Oxomoco, of course, in Greenpoint.
Fish tacos + bean tacos from Rockaway Beach, Queens.
Calcio e peppe from Via Carotta in West Village and Le Fanfare, in Brooklyn.
