a/n- pretend it was raining in the final battle scene, ok?
Gary’s left fist nearly plunged into Jimmy’s stomach, instead being caught by Jimmy’s hand gripping his. Jimmy was once again pinned to the metal bar and forced to wrestle with Gary, before hearing a single screw pop off and hit the ground somewhere beneath them.
The two froze. Jimmy whispered a curse under his breath as Gary smiled.
In an instant, before Jimmy could move, he was falling.
Gary held his shirt firm above him, pulling the two together. They were going to land head first through the glass panes of Crabblesnitch’s office, and then into the hard wooded floors beneath it. This was it, Gary was killing them both.
It felt like Jimmy was falling forever, like time had slowed. He shut his eyes, ready for whatever came after death.
Jimmy woke up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. His vision blurred around him as bright fluorescent lights made its way into his eyes. He dropped his arm from his face in an instant, looking around.
The walls were covered in yellow wallpaper and the carpet he sat on felt moist and crusted. The carpet below him was wet from his clothes, mixed in with a familiar red. He was bleeding from somewhere, but oddly, Jimmy couldn’t feel from where. He looked around him, without getting up, before noticing something other than his new environment.
Gary was sat leaned up against a wall, staring at him intently.
“Goodmorning, friend.” He said, not getting up. Jimmy got up, walking towards Gary. He looked down at the man, noticing the ground beneath him was also stained red.
“Gary, where the fuck are we?” The walls around him were spaced out, yet they made him feel claustrophobic. There seemed to be no furniture around them, instead, just walls upon walls, pillars, and more walls.
“Well, while you were sleeping, I got up and actually looked around.” Gary paused, looking at Jimmy.
“And?"
“And I came to the conclusion that you, moron, sent us both to hell.” Gary pushed himself up, standing in front of Jimmy, whose mouth hung open.
“Clap it up for shit-for-brains Jimmy Hopkins, everyone! He sent us to this hellish maze with no escape in sight!” Gary clapped his hands mockingly. Jimmy gritted his teeth, feeling his face turn red in anger.
“How is this my fault, asshole!? YOU’RE the one that pushed us off that roof,” Jimmy got close to Gary, pinning him to the wall, “You’re the one that killed us both, Gary! I didn’t want to kill either of us— that was you, lunatic!” Gary fell silent as Jimmy continued.
“What happened to winning, huh? Why’d you kill THE BOTH OF US?”
“Aw, are you trying to say you would’ve wanted me to live while you died, instead of us both being here? You’re so sweet, Jimmy.” Gary smiled, putting his hand on his heart, “Didn’t know you would’ve sacrificed yourself for me.”
Jimmy clutched his fists as Gary laughed.
“You’re not just being dense, right? You actually think this is the afterlife— or, our afterlife?” Gary nodded, grabbing the shorter man’s wrist and walking. Jimmy yanked his arm out of Gary’s grasp, following him.
“Well, look at it from my view. While you were asleep, I walked around here for about 5 minutes before realizing I’d get lost in here if I kept going. But I could tell one thing, there was no way these buildings were built by a sane person, just look at how weird the architecture around here is.”
Gary was actually starting to make sense, surprisingly. They walked into random halls that curved into itself, deadends, and walls that were placed randomly in rooms. None of it made sense, especially with the lack of furniture and the consistent, bright fluorescent lights above them.
A panic started creeping up on Jimmy as he followed Gary. He stopped walking, leaning against a wall with his arm, slouching over. His world spun. He really was dead, and stuck in hell with Gary Smith out of anyone.
Gay stopped walking, turning around to face Jimmy.
“What? ‘Thought that trying to save Bullworth would send you to heaven?” Gary grinned,
“Think again; you’re just as horrible as me, James.”
