taesan sighs softly, a look of vulnerability on his face. "my boss asked me to work overtime. and then it started raining once I left the office so I had to wait until it let up into a drizzle." "you could've just went home instead." you mutter.

"and not be able to see you?" taesan looks at you with those stupid entrancing eyes of his. "you'll live." you shot back before avoiding eye contact. he simply laughs.

once the noodles are done, he puts it all together and begins to slurp up the noodles. he lets out a soft groan and his eyebrows are furrowed. cute… you can't help but think.

after he's done, he washes his own bowl and helps you close up the shop. the rain has stopped and all that's left is a cooling night. "let me walk you home." he asks softly but it sounds more like an order. you nod, besides a few extra minutes with him sounds like heaven.

and as you walk, the silence between the two of you is both comforting and soothing. you stare at the stars shining above you, twinkling against the dark backdrop of the sky. "the moon is pretty today isn't it?" taesan asks. you nod, "yeah.. it is."

"you know, today's my birthday." you immediately freeze in your steps, "it is?" he nods in response, "august 10th." "you should've told me that earlier! I wouldn't have charged you for your ramen-" he rolls his eyes. "it's fine.." "I don't have a present for you either-" "I don't need one from you.."

"but come on. it is your birthday, at least let me-" you scramble about as you take out your wallet from your bag. you arrive outside your house. the two of you reluctantly let go. how you wish you had rewinding time superhero capabilities.

"get home safe.." you muttered and he nodded in return. "happy birthday." you continue.

he stands there in silence before reaching into his pocket and handing you a piece of paper. you accept it in curiosity. "when you enter your house.. I want you to make sure you can't see me anymore, that I've walked home and then you can open the paper and read it."

you nod slowly and he nudges you to go into your house. and so you do.

you stand at the window, watching him get further and further away from your house until he can no longer be seen. you open the paper with a bated breath and a racing heart.
