Arrival (REGULAR EDITION) by Kevin Tong 24"x36", 12-color screenprint Edition of 325
My weakest execution but strongest concept— The Mosaic.
Asking what it means to read and write. It is compiling or receiving a variant of words/ tones in order to create/ unveil a larger picture. Because stories/ images are a result of multiple pieces, the mosaic idea started and taking it further to the festival in and of itself, they are experiencing many pieces of people from different countries and backgrounds to create one event. This is a mosaic of people that make mosaic stories. This is socially fitting because Canada is described as a cultural mosaic whereas America is known as the melting pot.
*More revisions will be done off this ‘mosaic’ concept*
A little teaser of my next poster.
'Claws beat against bars, creating a tone of loss, feathers disappeared'
After a lot of playing around with different poster designs I finally came up with a final one. I kept it very similar to previous ones I made, just changing the colour, adding paint drips and an ‘X’ at the top. The reasons I added the ‘X’ was one, because it looked cool, and two, because it went with the graffiti and decayed type theme I was going with. Ive used the word ‘sinister’ quite a lot when talking about my work and this haiku, using the ‘X’ added a bit more of a sinister element to the poster.
Saying that, I don't know if I've tried to do too much by adding it to the poster and if it looks a bit too busy. I quite like the amount of detail but also simplicity of my previous designs.
