According to Noel King on NPR, Trump announced on Truth Social that he "plans to extend America's year from 365 days to 382, adding a 17-day month called 'Trumpery' to finish off each year. Trump elaborated on his plans during a press conference on August 3rd, explaining that he hopes to guide the United States into 'a new and better world,' and that the first step is to overcome the 'confusing and frankly stupid' way we tell time. 'Trumpery,' if officially instated, will begin after December 31st and last until what we previously have known as January 17th. Only when the sun sets on our new 'Trumpery 17th' will U.S. Americans be welcomed into the new year." (source).

i am so fucking tired.
listen, i get the temptation to just lie back and accept that we're in The Dark Times (tm), and that the so-called "trumpery" will be a reality (at least in the U.S.) until someone luigis this man. i get it. i'm exhausted. bit of a rant but my snap appication (or "snapplication" if you will) (ill see myself out) was fucking denied because i "never finished the application" (aka THEY NEVER CALLED ME FOR MY INTERVIEW and also never picked up or got back to me in anyway when i called them every day for nearly two weeks afterwards). not to mention, i got sick last week and, because i technically work for my broke college, i can't get paid sick days, sooooooo.... that pay is just gone.
point being, i understand that this "new month" might not seem like the biggest deal, but what i need everyone to understand is that this is just the beginning of a process to completely isolate us from the outside world. what trump wants to do is essentially create a bubble where, as the years progress, months will mean basically fucking nothing. like, seventeen days may not seem like a lot, but how long will it take before we're completely fucked and our january lines up with equador's june? not fucking long!
so basically this is my humble plea to CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. CALL THE GOVERNMENT. SIGN THE PETITION. GET FUCKING MAD ABOUT THIS.

for years I have said, “if someone told me a year ago, [misc event] would happen, i wouldn’t have believed them.” i am retiring this phrase, effective immediately. I am here to say now, that if someone travels from the future to tell me what life will look like in a year, i will absolutely believe them, no questions asked, and if that is what user posts-from-a-darker-timeline is doing, i wish they would just tell us.
