Unlistening digital sketching, layers of drawings in pen and pencil and a photograph of tafoni (sculptural rock formations) taken at Bean Hollow State Beach, a magical and favorite place. This piece was made as I worked remotely from places along Highway 1 a few Sunday’s ago.

Mind’s eye... I’ve been thinking about the Thirdspace and how one’s studio can be anywhere. I spend a lot of time during the week indoors behind a computer and on the weekends when I have free time, I’m torn between my studio and the outside. I realize now the outside has become an extension of my studio and the ocean/beach my Thirdspace. Much of my inspiration, idea generation, and thought processing happens there now. The other day I thought about this as I walked along the low tide between Pacheco and Judah after my morning run... all that open space allows for much generative thinking and I know the mental work I do there is important.
