Their childhood career choice:
“Roxanne! Angelina! Get over here!”
The two small girls rushed over, dropping the sticks they’d been playing with. The beads tied in Angelina’s hair bumped against her back as she and her sister ran over to the picnic table, giggling. Roxanne’s curly hair had already frizzed a bit due to the humidity. Their mother was pulling out a pair of sandwiches and two pops for them.
“Where’s Daddy?” Angelina asked taking a bit of her sandwich.
Her mother smiled softly. “Don’t talk with your mouth full. He’s coming.”
Angelina nodded and took another big bite of her sandwich. Her sister followed her lead and took a sip of her coke before biting into her sandwich. Daddy had been working so much lately. He was never home before Angelina’s bedtime anymore and he promised he’d be here today, so Angelina knew that he’d be here soon.
“Mummy?” Roxanne asked. “Why does Daddy have to work so much?”
“To make money,” she answered simply.
“Daddy!” Angelina suddenly shouted when she saw her father approaching. She jumped up from her seat and made a dash across the park, her sister on her tail. Soon, they were both swept up in the strong arms of their father. Roxanne was the first to pull away and hurry back to the table to finish her sandwich.
“You’re late,” Angelina informed her father.
“Am I?” he said, lifting the seven-year-old off the ground. “I’m terribly sorry.”
“Daddy,” she giggled before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Daddy ~ Beyonce
WORST CHILDHOOD MEMORY?:
There was ringing in her ears because what her father was telling her couldn’t be true. Her mother couldn’t be gone. She wasn’t supposed to be gone. Angelina tore from the room before her father could finish explaining and slammed the door to her room. As she slid down the door, she couldn’t stop the tears that were forcing their way out of her eyes.
Nothing hurt like this betrayal—not even falling out of a tree and breaking her arm when she was ten hurt like this. What made her mother want to leave? What had she done that angered her enough to talk out the door and never come back? Her heart couldn’t piece together why her mother had left and it was tearing her to sherds.
Slowly, she crawled over to her bed and managed to pull herself on top of it. She sat there, arms around her legs, rocking back and forth as the tears refused to stop falling. All she wanted was to ask her mother why. Then she could stop crying. If she knew what she’d done to make her mum leave, she could fix it.
Her rocking became slower as her breathing became more shallow. She couldn’t breathe. What was she doing wrong now? Grasping her throat as panic settled in her stomach, Angelina tried to get air into her lungs, but it wasn’t working. She was broken.
“Angelina!” her sister shouted, grabbing her shoulders. “Deep breaths. You need to take deep breaths.” Grabbing an old bag, her sister cupped the ends and pressed them up to Angelina’s mouth. “Breathe into this. Slowly. That’s it. You’re having a panic attack.”
Angelina’s breathing started to slow down, allowing her to notice that there were tears trailing down her sister’s cheeks as well. Pushing the bag out of her way, Angelina wrapped her arms around her little sister, who began to sob into her shoulder. There would be no more breaking down—not when her sister needed her to be strong.
Beliver ~ Imagine Dragons
WHAT WERE THEY LIKE AS A CHILD?:
Angelina was extremely adventurous and she would often come home with bruises or scratches and the occasional broken bone. She always talked too loudly or played too rough. Wherever she went trouble followed. It didn’t matter how many times her parents scolded her; she always found a way to make more trouble when they forbid her from doing what she wanted.
I Lived ~ OneRepublic
ANY CRUSHES GROWING UP?:
She definitely had a crush on Oliver Wood when she was eleven, but that died when he became Quidditch captain. Other than that, she didn’t really have any crushes. She liked people, and she kissed them, but until her first boyfriend, she never really crushed on anyone.
Please Don’t Say You Love Me ~ Gabrielle Aplin
DID THEY KNOW/LIKE THEIR PARENTS?:
She used love both of her parents, but she was always closer with her dad. Her mum was always on her case about something or scolding her. Since her dad was very chill, she just spent more time with him. After her mum left, she slowly started to build her up to be this horrible person in her mind, and Angelina began to hate her.
Rise ~ Katy Perry
BEST INFLUENCE ON THEM AS A KID?:
Her sister. Roxanne was the complete opposite of Angelina. She followed rules, she was quiet, she almost never got in trouble. She was also Angelina’s really good friend. They talked about everything and there was never a secret kept between them. Whenever Angelina was around her, she was a little less wild.
Count on Me ~ Bruno Mars
WORST INFLUENCE ON THEM AS A KID?:
Angelina’s hometown was not the best place to raise children. Her Muggle friends were definitely the worst influence on her. Granted, they were older boys who she thought were really cool at the time. They gave her first cigarette and her first alcoholic drink. She also went to parties with them and occasionally dabbled in different drugs.
Wicked Ones ~ Dorothy
DID THEY HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS?:
Sort of. A lot of people said she was their friend because Angelina was nice to her classmates as long as they weren’t wearing green and silver. She talked to people and was really good at keeping a conversation going so people just assumed that she was friends with a majority of people in the castle. She liked talking to people, but the conversation only deep with a few of her close friends. Those people were the ones she really saw as her friends.
With a Little Help From My Friends ~ The Beatles
TYPE OF DISCIPLINE (EX. STRICT, LENIENT):
Both. Her dad was fairly lenient and her mum was somewhat strict. Her dad was always worried about things that she did, but he believed in letting her learn from her own mistakes. On the other hand, her mum wanted to involved in her life and know what she was doing and where she was going. If Angelina ever broke any rules, her mum would scold her, and she would receive a punishment.
Hearts ~ Jessie Ware
WERE THEY OVERPROTECTED AS A CHILD? SHELTERED?:
Her mum tried to be overprotective, but that didn’t really work out. If her mum tried to be overprotective or get up in Angelina’s business, Angelina would refuse to answer her questions or find ways to get around her mother, i.e. sneaking out in the middle of the night. Eventually, her mum just set rules and expected her to follow them.
It’s My Life ~ Bon Jovi
DID THEY FEEL REJECTION OR AFFECTION AS A CHILD?:
Her dad was always affectionate toward both her and her sister, especially after her mother left. She always felt like she could talk to her dad no matter what happened. When he came home from work, he would always hug her and kiss her on the forehead. Even though Angelina wasn’t an affectionate person, she always looked forward to hugging her dad.
Unforgettable ~ Natalie Cole
WERE THEY AN EARLY OR LATE BLOOMER FOR PUBERTY?:
She was pretty regular. She started to develop when she was thirteen and didn’t stop until she was about sixteen. Those years were hard for her because she felt like everything was out of yack, and boys started to notice her before she was ready to be noticed.
The Middle ~ Jimmy Eat World
DO THEY STILL KNOW ANY OF THEIR CHILDHOOD FRIENDS?:
Yes, she still knows some of the Muggle boys she used to be friends with, and most of them have kids surprisingly. Whenever she goes back home, she makes sure to visit them and catch up. Of course, she’s still friends with most of the people she went to Hogwarts.
You’ve Got a Friend in Me ~ Randy Newmen
DESCRIBE THEIR CHILDHOOD HOME:
It was a small place with hardwood floors in the living room and kitchen, tile in the bathroom, and carpet in the bedrooms. There is a sofa and a couple chairs in the living room along with a small tv. The kitchen sports an island and lots of cabinets space. A hallway down from the kitchen leads to the downstairs bathroom and the master bedroom. Upstairs are Angelina’s and Roxanne’s rooms, both on the left. The bathroom is on the right along with a guest bedroom.
Our House ~ Madness
WHAT WAS THE ECONOMIC STATUS OF THEIR FAMILY?:
They’re weren't well off by any means, but they weren’t poor either. They were smack dab in the middle of middle class. Angelina’s parents always worried about money and planned a budget every month. This meant that as a kid she wasn’t always allowed to have all the toys she wanted or if she wanted a bicycle she had to save her allowance money.
Cheap Thrills ~ Sia
THEIR CHILDHOOD CAREER CHOICE:
Once she started Hogwarts, she wanted to be a professional Quidditch player. She checked out books from the library on Quidditch and learned everything she could about being a professional player. She was going to follow through with it, too, until her seventh year and Umbridge.
Hermione’s favourite memory would have to be the day she first realised something was different about her, which happened to be the day before McGonagall visited her home. All her life, since she could remember, Hermione was never like the other children, especially when attending public muggle school. She was outcasted, maybe because of her smarts, but even then she was always despised when she tried to not be smart to make friends. It was a month before her 12th birthday in September, and she sat quietly in her room reading Matilda by Roald Dahl for the hundredth time.
She always enjoyed the story, connecting with Maltida in ways she never thought she could. Not that her parents treated her poorly, but rather the students, and how Matilda never enjoyed Miss Trunchbull just like Hermione never enjoyed her time in public school. Halfway through the book, reading about Matilda doing some magic in class, Hermione shut the pages and let out a sigh of frustration. If only she could do magic.
For a moment, she wanted to play pretend like she would do when younger. Rising from her cushions and detangling herself from her bed covers, Hermione walked across the room, amusing herself as she imagined herself moving objects with her fingers just like Matilda. She reached her shelf and slid the book back into its place, her finger tracing down the spine before she curled it back as if trying to jerk it towards her. She laughed at herself, finding it stupid and awkward-- magic was not real. As Hermione turned away, she heard a quick shuffling behind her and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Turning, Matilda was pushed out a tad from the slot she had slid the book into. She pushed it in once again, but the book fought back and nudged itself out against Hermione’s hands. It shot out and fell at her feet. Her heart rattled in her chest as she tried to make sense of what happened, trying to logically put together why the book moved. Yet, she couldn’t help but wonder if it was her that moved the book with her finger. Feeling silly once again, she pointed her index at the shelves, directly at the spot where Matilda was slid into, and quickly Hermione dragged the finger away towards herself.
There was a rattle around her as all the books flew out of their sockets and pelted themselves towards Hermione. She screeched and cover herself but they all missed and landed around her. Her heart beat faster, breathing ragged as she lowered her arms to look at the scattered books and pages. “Hermione--” she heard her parents call, but there was just a big smile on her face, too shocked to speak, and too happy to finally understand something was different.
The next day, a strangely dressed woman with cat-like features approached the house but Hermione already knew why she was there. It was obvious, she was a witch, and her life was going to change for the better.
ooc; dunno why i wrote this memory like this. also this is a mild rewrite of a larger self-para i have of hermione reading matilda. this is based off of some tumblr post i saw years ago about younger hermione doing magic like matilda.
Worst childhood memory?:
Her first couple of days at Hogwarts when she wasn’t fitting with the other students, which reminded her of muggle schooling when she was outcasted for no particular reason. It especially didn’t help when she first discovered the different opinions based off of magical blood and knew she’d be discriminated towards for most of her life by pure-bloods or traditional wizards.
What were they like as a child?:
Hermione was a very calm child when growing up, always following the rules her parents set for her and never acting out when in public-- or acting out in general. Her mother constantly referred to her as ‘an angel child’ whenever she spoke to her grandmother or any other relative. She wasn’t fussy as a newborn and even surpassed the ‘terrible twos’ stage as a toddler. Of course, that all changed once she started muggle school, her parents constantly notified about the ‘strange’ things Hermione would do in class, and even during her times at Hogwarts they were always aware of all the things her, Harry and Ron went through.
Any crushes growing up?:
She was never much for crushes and romances, but she did adore Professor Lockhart during his time at Hogwarts before they found out he was a fraud.
Did they know/like their parents?:
She adores her parents, possibly more than anything in the world. It has been hard on her since the war, their memories still modified and still unaware they even have a daughter, never mind just not having them around. Her mother was one of her closest relationships besides Harry and Ron.
Best influence on them as a kid?:
Professor McGonagall, without a doubt. She always looked up to her Head of House, and she was also the one person she went to or owl’ed during her first couple of weeks in the magical community. McGonagall always pushed Hermione towards achieving more advanced studies, not that she needed much pushing, but she fought for the time-turner so Hermione could take more classes during her third year, and always treated the young witch as if she was one of her own.
Worst influence on them as a kid?:
Probably Harry and Ron, but only in aspects of getting into trouble and having that ‘hero-complex’ of always trying to save the school. Not that she was innocent as well, there were moments where she would be the instigator and provoke the other two. When she brewed polyjuice potion during their second year to disguise themselves as Crabbe, Goyle, and Millicent, for instance, or when she continued to do research on Nicolas Flamel and countless of other things.
Did they have a lot of friends?:
Growing up in the muggle world, no, but attending Hogwarts, it is well-known she is best friends with Ron and Harry, and from them Hermione grew close to Ginny Weasley and the rest of the Weasley family. She also has a good relationship with Neville Longbottom, always sticking up for him even on the first day of school. A lot of her fellow Gryffindors are also good friends.
Type of discipline (ex. strict, lenient):
Her parents were mildly strict whilst growing up but that never bothered Hermione since she wasn’t one to act out towards her parents. As she grew older and made friends and entered a world that they weren’t apart of, they became more lenient about certain things, especially when she would spend summer and winter holidays with the Weasleys and Harry.
Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?:
Not really, they let Hermione grow from mistakes and venture out into the world to appreciate and learn.
Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?:
From her parents, there was nothing but love and affection. They adored their only child and loved her endlessly. She also received the same love from the rest of her family members, including her grandparents and cousins.
Were they an early or late bloomer for puberty?:
She was either ‘early’ or ‘regular’ bloomer when it came to puberty. Around 13 or 14 did she finally start developing, especially around the time of the TriWizard Tournament and Yule Ball.
Do they still know any of their childhood friends?:
Not so much the muggle ones, not that she had any, but she’s still very close with all of the friends she made at Hogwarts while growing up.
Describe their childhood home:
The floorboards would creeky in the living room right behind the couch, if one wasn’t careful and minded their step. The air always smelt clean, of bleach, since her mother was very proper and stingy towards sanitation, being a dentist, but during the weekends it would always smell of baking-- either a cake or cookies, maybe even pastries. Her father loved to bake, but cooking was his speciality, and he always made the best potatoes for their roasts. Her room walls were a faded lilac, almost white, and her bookshelf was so old and groaned whenever she added more books to her collection. The wood and paint chipped from it, yet it matched with the mismatched furniture in her room. There was always a lot more blankets scattered around than anything else. The lawn out front was trimmed neatly and a little sign hung from their fence to remind their neighbours to not litter and to curb their dog. Occasionally they held little garden tea ‘parties,’ the three of them, within the fence of their front yard since they did not have a backyard, but that was only when she was a child.
What was the economic status of their family?:
They were very well off as muggles, both her parents being very successful dentists.
Their childhood career choice:
She always wanted to be an activist for magical creatures, noted in her third year when she created Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare.
I don’t know if Angelina can get house points or not, but this was still super fun!
BASICS AND COSMETIC:
Full Name: Angelina Renee Johnson
Age: 22
Date of Birth: November 27, 1977
Hair color: Black. It’s a really deep raven color that’s super thick and grows really fast.
Eye color: Deep coco brown.
Skin color/nationality: Black. So obviously she’s British, but her family originally came from Southern Africa from a small village near where Oudtshoorn is now.
Accent (if any): British, I guess. But to her that’s not an accent.
Height: 5’10’’
Weight: 142 lbs. but most of its muscle.
Tattoos: Nope. Angelina doesn’t like the idea of being repeatedly poked with needles.
Piercings: She has her ears pierced, and she’s thought about getting her belly button pierced but has never gone and done it.
Birthmarks: N/A
Disfigurements: She got cursed during the war and at one point her body was just covered in these painful whitish spots that oozed puss and made it difficult for her to move. Luckily, she was able to get to a Healer and everything turned out alright, but there’s a spot that runs across her right hip that never cleared up. It’s not painful or anything; it’s just there.
Scars: She’s got a scar that runs from the height of her ribcage to her left hip which she got from a hex at the Battle of Hogwarts.
Do they have any nicknames? Where did they come from?: Ange and Angie are the main ones. When she was little, her sister used to call her Angie all the time because she couldn’t say Angelina. As she got older, she decided she didn’t like that name because it sounded too girly. So when she went to Hogwarts, she’d thought she’d outrun it, but low and behold, the name followed her there, too. Through the years, she’s gotten used to people calling her that and almost likes the name, though she’d never admit it.
Relationship Status? Single at the mo’.
FAVORITES AND HABITS:
What are some of your character’s hobbies? What do they do with their time? Flying obviously, but Angelina likes to go out and have a good time as well. She’s the person who will get a big group of friends together to go out for a night on the town. She just likes hanging out with her friends.
Favorite color?Probably red.
What are some of their pet peeves? She’s very health conscious because she used to play Quidditch, and she didn’t want to get sick around game times. So, if someone coughs around her and doesn’t like turn away from her or do anything to cover their mouths, it freaks her out, and she’ll end up giving the person an hour long talk about hygiene.
What sort of gifts do they like? Again, anything Quidditch related, obviously. She also likes almost any kind of jewelry, and makeup is one of her favorite things to get as a gift.
What is their favorite time of day? Favorite weather? Season? Night/Warm and slightly windy/Fall
Where do they like to spend their time? Her shop and flat are probably her top two, but she also likes to go to The Three Broomsticks when she has time.
Favorite food? Favorite drink? Hot drinks, soft drinks, or alcohol? Pretzels/Tea/Alcohol always
Favorite animal? Probably dogs or owls.
Do they have any pets? Do they want any? She has a really old owl that she first got in Diagon Alley, but other than that no.
What relaxes them? Just sitting in her flat with her owl while she does inventory, but also talking to her friends.
Do they have any bad habits? Yes. She smoked for a really long time in her teens, but now she only does that occasionally. Also, she’s super quick to try any kind of drug if she trusts the person who’s giving it to her.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Why did they return to Hogwarts?
Important people in their lives? Her sister and her father are probably the most important to her with her close friends coming in second.
If your character had a choice, what would they want their final words to be? Probably something along the lines of “Fuck you, you pathetic piece of shit” because whenever she imagines dying it’s always at the hands of a Death Eater.
What skill does your character pride themselves in? Being there for her friends and family. She’s a bit of a fixer, and she wants those around her to talk to her if they have any problems or concerns with their lives, etc.
If your character could instantly have a good relationship with anyone in the HP universe, who would they choose and why? This doesn’t have to be someone they’ve met, but it does have to be someone alive. Probably McGonagall because Angelina really looks up to her and thinks the world of her.
What is your character self-conscious about? Getting close to people. She’s terrified that getting emotionally close to someone will result in them leaving her. It’s why she hasn’t had a proper romantic relationship since she was seventeen.
In our previous post regarding task 001 we forgot to mention there is a due date to return all the tasks. Though they are not mandatory, it is fun if you complete them and gain house points. The last day to submit task 001 will be Monday, May 14th.

What is your character self-conscious about?
The days leading up to her eleventh birthday, Pansy really didn’t want to leave Brazil. She wanted to go to Hogwarts, and it was all her father could talk about, but she also wasn’t that open to the idea of change. The moment she arrived at Parkinson Manor, she was reminded of how much her parents loved her. Her walk-in closet was filled with gifts and every item from every luxury clothing brand while her bedroom was adorned with every toy a child could ever want.
Worst childhood memory?
Pansy’s worst memory was during her parents’ fifteenth anniversary. Her mother, Scylla Parkinson (née da Nóbrega) had invited Paavo’s family to their home in Brazil for a weekend celebration. All was going well until her uncle Perseus drank one too many bottles of Swott Malt Whiskey which got him in a heated debate with Pansy’s grandfather, Goncalo. According to Perseus, Hogwarts was older than Castelbruxo but Goncalo insisted that it was his alma mater that came up with the idea to enchant its castle so it appears as a ruin to Muggles, heavily implying that Castelobruxo was far superior. Fueled by alcohol and unreasonable rage, Perseus drew his wand out on Goncalo and challenged him to a duel. As a response, the da Nóbregas pulled their wands out on Perseus, immediately followed by the Parkinsons doing the same, protecting their drunken relative. It wasn’t until Scylla and Paavo reasoned with them that the situation calmed down. It terrified Pansy, who was eight at the time, but her parents told her to see what happened as a reminder of how to act. Parkinsons and da Nóbregas defend their family name against anyone who disrespects them or poses as a threat.
What were they like as a child?
Pansy Parkinson was as spoiled as they come and unsurprisingly, not much has changed since then.
Any crushes growing up?
Growing up, no one really came close to becoming a crush to Pansy. She was used to everyone jousting for her attention that it didn’t seem as if anyone was really worthy. It wasn’t until she started becoming close with the other children in the Sacred Twenty-Eight that she understood what a crush was. Ever since she saw him full of confidence flying on that broom with his hair slick back, Draco Malfoy’s name had a constant place in Pansy’s childhood journals.
Did they know/like their parents?
She grew up adored and spoiled rotten by her parents. Naturally, Pansy was extremely grateful and loyal to them.
Best influence on them as a kid?
Pansy lives by her parents’ teachings and considers them her role models.
Worst influence on them as a kid?
If you asked Pansy, she would say she grew up surrounded by the best people there are. However, if you ask her parents, they would say her uncle Perseus, the one currently imprisoned in Azkaban, was Pansy’s worst influence. Of course, her parents taught her the importance of standing your ground and fighting for what you believe in, but Perseus taught by example and would always take it an inch too far. It was through him that Pansy truly learned the art of manipulation.
Did they have a lot of friends?:
A lot of kids wanted to be associated with her back in Brazil but the only ones she truly considers her friends now are those pure-bloods she met in the Slytherin house during her first year at Hogwarts.
Type of discipline (ex. strict, lenient):
Her parents had this distinct way of raising Pansy. She grew up with their family values completely instilled in her despite them never having to put their foot down. As she grew older, they learned that the best way to go about raising her was the path of least resistance. So long as they gave her what she wanted, she obeyed.
Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?
Paavo and Scylla were incredibly overprotective of their only child, but they still gave in to each and every one of her whims. They couldn’t bear to deny her, so whenever something was inconvenient for the family, it was them who would adjust as best as possible.
Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?
Pansy felt nothing but overflowing affection from her parents.
Were they an early or late bloomer for puberty?
Pansy grew up just right. It wasn’t too fast that she attracted attention for just a moment only to lose it right away. It was perfectly paced for both boys and girls to covet either out of jealousy or admiration.
Do they still know any of their childhood friends?
The only people Pansy truly considers her friends are those who are also part of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. Since most of them are in Hogwarts and in the Slytherin house, her connections with them are still pretty intact.
Describe their childhood home
When Pansy turned nine, her family officially moved to Britain to reside in Parkinson Manor. Before that, she lived and grew up in Mansão da Nóbrega in Porto Seguro, a city in the far south of Bahia, Brazil. It was a spectacular seaside farm on one of the most beautiful beaches in South America. It was just them and their house-elves who lived there, but her other aunts, uncles, and cousins from her mother’s side would often visit for a quick weekend trip. Some of Pansy’s fondest childhood memories are set at the beach where she would spend time with her immediate and extended family.
What was the economic status of their family?
Both the Parkinsons and da Nóbregas are dirty rotten filthy stinking rich.
Their childhood career choice
It was never anything concrete, because whatever she wanted then, she had in an instant. Whenever she imagined what she would be like when she was older, she’d envision herself dressed to the nines and ordering people around. She would be in power and still bloody rich. It didn’t matter whether that meant she’d be part of the ministry or running a business. She’d achieve it regardless.
