‘I suppose I’ll just have to avoid anything that could rile me up until I get it back, as a precaution.’ That’s what he had said to his brother when they realized his Dragonstone had been taken. Kamui came up with a simple plan: step one, avoid as many stressors as possible. Step two, wait until he can get his Dragonstone back. Step three, hope he doesn’t hurt anybody if he does happen to transform.

It’s barely been a day, and he has already failed step one.

He’s not even sure how the collision happened; one moment he’s taking a lovely stroll by a river and the next he’s being knocked into said river. Kamui reaches out and grabs the stranger’s arm on reflex, bringing his assailant(...?) down with him into the water.

The prince jerks away just before he’s squashed and turns towards the stranger, unsheathing his sword out of habit (it may be wooden, but even a wooden weapon can be dangerous if you know how to properly use it). Water laps around his knees as he eyes the young man warily.

“For an assassin, you’re quite clumsy. Who sent you?”

“Leon,” Cynthia greeted, smiling to herself as she spotted him wandering amidst the crowd in Archimedes. In the summer heat, she had been on her way to the water of styx; although she hadn’t been here very long, she had heard from the locals of Spirale that it was a nice place to cool off. Still, she hadn’t expected to run into a fellow league champion on the way there. It was nice to see a face that she actually recognized from her own world-- Hop had been nice to see the day before as well, even if she hadn’t actually met him personally up until that point.

“I hope you’ve been well. This heat is rather sweltering, is it not? I was just going to go check out the pools around here. Did you perhaps wish to join me?”

Given the whole situation, it was rather amazing how quickly Cynthia was adjusting to life within the confines of the island. She still wanted to do research into everything that was going on, especially in regards to how the Stars could possibly hold so much power, but... she figured that if she was stuck here for the time being, she may as well make the most of it.

“H-Huh?” Ryou blinked, suddenly hyper-aware of the way his phone had slipped from his hand. His left hand had gotten better since the incident, remarkably quickly in fact- but there had still been a lot of nerve damage, and it didn’t work as well as it’d used to. 

Still, he’d gotten used to it more or less. The random muscle spasms or numbness could be inconvenient, but he got around it- but he’d forgotten how noticeable the scar was, a large gash on the back of his hand.

“Oh, um... it was an accident. And it looks worse than it is, really.” He quickly bent over to pick his phone back up with his right hand, before absentmindedly rubbing at the scar tissue on his left. It wasn’t like he could really explain the truth, after all. “A lot happened, but I, um... ended up falling onto one of my gaming dioramas. It certainly lived up to the ‘durable’ part of the ‘durable polyresin’ name... b-but really, it’s fine now. Just acts up every now and again.”

Well, considering he’s being haunted by someone who is functionally immortal so long as the ring is around... Ryou doesn’t think it’s all its cracked up to be. Just in general, he thinks that the idea of immortality is actually a bit sad- eventually, those you love will all be gone, and you’ll be the only one left. He wouldn’t ever choose to be immortal, that much is certain. Even if a life is a short thing, and even if he isn’t getting his completely to himself, he’d still much rather be mortal.

For Bakura, though, he’s more than fine with his whole situation. To him, his ‘immortality’ is perseverance- it’s a big ‘fuck-you’ to the gods, after all they’ve done to him. They cannot have his soul, he refuses to face Anubis’s judgement, not until he’s burnt the world to the ground in vengeance for what was done to his village. When it comes to the living, he doesn’t really care about them- he’s taken many lives before, and doesn’t feel any degree of guilt about those acts. If you offered him the chance to truly return to life, I don’t think he’d take it- being a ‘parasite’ is far more convenient to him.
