Power - Kayne West
THEME SONG #1.
We're holding our POWER week this week where we embrace all things WOMAN.
As much as Lucy hates what he did to "poor Taylor", we acknowledge his influence in society for appreciating themselves and always wanting the best/wanting to thrive for better!
'No one (WO)MAN should have all that power'
Power Week: the experiment
I've decided to do a little observational-type experiment throughout the next week - "power week" as it's called in the restaurant industry. Basically, in other words, the week where we get our asses handed to us on a tarnished silver platter thanks to the thousands of gift cards given as Christmas gifts.
Most of which I'm sure I was just as busy selling to the gift givers last week.
Last week, people were downright mean when they came in to eat. The tips were slim to none, you couldn't do anything right...no matter what...it was just altogether a pretty terrible experience (and I always seem to forget that this is how it goes every year...). I gather it had something to do with what last-minute Christmas shopping does to a person's brain. Anyway, I'm curious to know whether or not peoples' attitudes will change now that the holidays are coming to a close. I only have tonight to go off of, but so far, compared to last week (mainly Thursday, because everyone was acting like a lunatic that night), people were generally more pleasant and less irritable. For the record, it was busier than fuck, and we were absolutely slaughtered (and short-staffed - go figure), but, for the most part, the people I served this evening were in much better spirits than last week's crop of delightful restaurant patrons.
I'd also like to try and see which of my colleagues, myself included, will lose their marbles first.
I'm going to try and document the general outcome each night this week and see where it takes me/see if I get anything solid out of it. Also, depending on how things pan out in the next couple days, I might try changing up my spiel & routine etc during the night to see if that warrants any change in a "problem table." Lately, I've been quickly losing patience with people that can't be bothered to be decent human beings...or people that seem to have misplaced their brain somewhere between leaving their home and entering my place of work. So maybe I need to work on my fake-nice a little more again. Maybe that's why I'm experiencing so many disgruntled guests. I don't know, we shall see. Fingers crossed that I actually follow through with this *cue shifty eyes*
