Last Sunday it was summer solstice and the temperatures and humidity certainly reflect that here in Austin, Texas! Plants and humans are having a hard time to thrive in this heat. But some plants like the summers here and in my garden one of them is echinacea purpurea ’Pow Wow White’. I planted three plants of this variety last year and I thought they didn’t survive our snowcalypse this winter, but all three came back even though they were very late to emerge. They are blooming freely right now and I love them together with my wire cloches and frothy lavender blooms of catmint ‘Walker’s Low’ in the background. I think they would also look beautiful with Russian Sage. Do you have any other ideas for companion plants for this white coneflower variety? Please share with me in the comments!
