Marco Sanchez – Progress Report
A project which I’m currently participating in is called TACULTURA – La influencia cultural del Taco en la Frontera, it is a juried art show depicting the unity along with the cultural influence in the communities of Juarez and El Paso via one of the favorite foods of the area; the taco. The show will benefit Amor Por Juarez, which is a non-profit organization focused on the revitalization of Juarez through the Arts and Culture, it proceeds are largely used to help provide art program workshops and full meals to underprivileged children from the region.
What I’ve done
I’ve eaten tacos in both towns to compare smells, tastes, and in particular the spiciness of the salsas to understand the evolution of the taco.
Taken photos of taco stands, vendors, and people eating tacos in Juarez and El Paso.
Chose the pictures to create the composition for my painting.
What to do next
Draw up a quick sketch of proposed work.
Submit both the sketch and a description that explains said piece.
Get canvas provided by Amor Por Juarez and stretch it.
Begin painting; due date is October 18th.
Attend reception on October 22nd.
By November 1st, I will have been done with this project, hopefully my piece will be sold and/or been chosen as one of eight award recipients.
Daniela Elizalde Progress
Describe your project: For this project I have to create a logo and packaging design for a chocolate company called Artes Oscuras, Artisanal Dark Chocolate. They specialize in 100% organic chocolate, and their theme is witchcraft. The company travels around the world to pick out the finest grains of cocoa. My intention is to create a logo that says chocolate, artisanal, and magic all in one, accompanied by unique packaging.
Create a numbered list of everything you have done on your project to date. 1. Begin researching about witchcraft, chocolate, and different types of logo designs. 2. Start sketching out logo ideas.
Create a numbered list of the next 5 steps (or more) you will take to move your project forward. 1. Begin researching about witchcraft, chocolate, and different types of logo designs. 2. Start sketching out logo ideas. 3. Narrow down to 3 logo ideas and clean up candidates in computer. 4. Once logo is chosen begin working in packaging ideas. 5. Pick out colors, research different types of package design, decide what will best fit with the theme of the product. 6. Create final package design and have it ready for final presentation.
Detail what you will have completed by November 1, 2015. What I will have completed by November 1, 2015 will be a finished logo design implemented in different types of packaging, ready to show to client.
