Scapular Dyskinesia Scapular what? The shoulder blade is referred to as the scapula and dyskinesia basically means uncontrolled movement. This can be a common source of shoulder pain and is common in younger overhead athletes. As you see, this athlete is not necessarily a spring chicken but yet presents with similar dysfunctions along his shoulder blade muscles. What can we learn about a simple slo mo video? •He elevates his shoulder blade prematurely and has excessive upper trap firing dictating that movement. •At maximal shoulder flexion, the increased atrophy pertaining his lower and middle traps is apparent. •On the way down he has poor scapular control with Type I winging indicative of potentially a tight pec minor and weak lower traps. Yah that's a lot lol Luckily for this guy he's in good hands and this can be easily remedied with appropriate exercises. It's important to me that we have enough time to thoroughly discuss these kind of things which is why I offer a full hour per treatment! #physicaltherapy #physicaltherapist #strengthandconditioning #education #exercise #workout #bebetter #strengthofknowledge #pr1memovement #pr1meshape #workharderandsmarter #weighttraining #weights #strength #strengthcoach #rehab #rehabilitation #knowledge #workouts #anytimefitness #anytimefitnesspineville #sports #Titleist #golf #sports #sportsrehab #ballantyne #pineville #charlotte (at Ballantyne Corporate Park)
