Bridezilla

After I got engaged, I read the book, "A Practical Wedding." It was very helpful in grounding me in this crazy life event called marriage. In the book, they mentioned that the term Bridezilla is offensive. I must agree wholeheartedly with that statement. Women are often stereotyped as being emotional and irrational. We are also expected to plan most of our own wedding, especially with the state of the economy and shift in tradition to DIY. I'm getting married in two weeks. I am not stressed out, I'm excited. You don't know me so please don't automatically assume I'm going to be a raging bitch when I don't get my way. Don't assume I even have to get my way in the first place. I should have done a better job of challenging this notion throughout my engagement and not brush off the term when someone says it to me. So, people, when you meet a bride, ask her how she is feeling instead of immediately assuming she is an emotional beast.
