As an autistic person, this episode has vindicated my “Becca’s relationship is entirely consensual because she’s a grown woman who wants and enjoys sex and the people speculating about her being taken advantage of were mostly just uncomfortable with the idea of a disabled woman, especially a higher-support-needs autistic woman with intellectual disability, wanting and having consensual sex because of infantilization” theory. And also my “Mel is gonna yell at Becca because of that very idea (which does not discount Mel being autistic, because she still clearly is and autistic people can be ableist, especially towards autists with higher support needs than them) and because she has no life outside of Becca and feels she’s out of place, feeding into her and Mohan’s storylines of needing to get a life outside of caring for their family members, and actually it really does parallel Mohan’s reaction to her mom leaving because she doesn’t need her as much as she thought” theory.

Weird night to like both Santos and Langdon though. Yikes on bikes. Time will tell how Al-Hashimi decides to take this but I suspect she’ll be giving him much less slack than Robby has. She’s really grown on me, despite her terrible genAI bullshit.

Someone’s got to stop Robby from taking his shit out on Mohan again. Especially in favor of Precious White Boy Ogilvie, who nearly killed a man and gets nary a scolding. Al-Hashimi, Abbot, Dana, I don’t care if it’s some rando in chairs. Your downward spiral does not need to become a whirlpool unchecked. Stop sucking her in.

Also that lawyer had better be for both Jesse and Pranita. Neither of them did anything wrong. I don’t even care if she’s actually undocumented: borders are fake, people are not, release her.

wtf was that ice storyline... better than i was expecting, but still...

they focused the majority of the storyline on what the white doctors/nurses were thinking/feeling. we barely get to know anything about the undocumented patient or what she was going through or how she felt. it also seemed like they want to make some kind of a statement about undocumented healthcare workers, but it was all minor/offscreen/unnamed characters who left, so viewers didn't feel that absence because no one we're used to seeing in the ER was gone...

the whole thing was giving written by white people who can only care about an issue that they see themselves in. the fact that the camera shot after the altercation focused only on jesse and not on the undocumented woman. the fact that they had robby give that fuckass speech, which don't even get me started on. the fact that the patient's care team was almost completely white people, when they have a cast full of people of color and characters that are immigrants/children of immigrants. like, you have mohan speaking tamil with her mom, but she doesn't get to be involved in this storyline or have an opinion. you've got princess (who was fully not in this episode) and perlah (who had like one scene) gossiping in tagolog earlier in the season, but then neither of them get to have thoughts. santos isn't involved. joy isn't involved. they throw javadi in at the end, but that's about it.

why don't any of the characters who are immigrants/children of immigrants get to be involved in the immigration storyline? it's bizarre.

now, there were some good parts--the shift into lupe's pov, javadi filming the assault, jesse stepping in (and the fact that it was a nurse filling that roll felt particularly meaningful, even though it was written before Alex Pretti's death)--but it's like why was this anti-ice storyline so focused on the white characters. why are they treating pranita like a prop for their after school special and not like a real person?

can we fucking talk about the ICE storyline. good god a lot of crazy shit happens in this show but that was so fucking brutal. I had my hand over my mouth the entire time. I'm so glad they did this. say THANK YOU to the writers & everyone involved because in a time where people are literally getting taken off the air for dumb fucking fascist reasons the marvelous wonderful Pitt said actually FUCK ICE and fuck fear-mongering and everybody deserves care.
