One of my coworkers asked me today if I would teach her how to crochet 🥰 She wants to make prayer shawls for some organization (might be her church; I can't remember now), which means today I learned that in Christianity (or possibly in some number of non-Jewish cultures/religions), prayer shawls are shawls made for people who are ill or otherwise going through a bad time as a physical token of someone's prayers for them. In Judaism, a prayer shawl is a very specifically-made garment worm primarily by men while praying, so. I’ve been rather confused this last decade about all these prayer shawl patterns I’ve been coming across 😂

Friends, does anyone here knit or crochet or make prayer shawls? I have heard from Pastor Sally Azar in Jerusalem and I will be sending her some prayer shawls for her congregants who have lost family in Gaza, and refugees as they trickle through the rafa border crossing, and maybe people sheltering at the Augusta Victoria Hospital and so on.
