Can‘t believe I’m about to see the end of 2 years of pre-pharmacy school
When I signed up I was convinced it would never end and here I am
And so many things have happened, including my decision to use that degree somewhere else away from pharmacy

Officially accepted into pharmacy school!
I got the letter about a month ago, but I haven’t posted anything about it until now (sorry :c ). Anyway, since I know a few of my followers are interested in pharmacy, would it be helpful for you if I did a Q/A session?
I don’t mind writing long posts either, if you want more details about...uh...I guess anything? Maybe personal statement/interview tips?
who else is applying to pharmacy school this year and wants to freak out with me?

Hello! May I ask why and how you decided to go into pharmacy? Also, why did you choose UOP? Thanks in advance!
Hi there!
Regarding WHY I decided to get into pharmacy, there are a lot of reasons, namely...
Job equality: hellllllllll no I’m not settling for 70 cents of a man’s dollar. Pharmacy is one of the few fields where a woman gets paid about the same as a man (mainly because women dominate the field, you know?)
Stability and speed: studying to be a pharmacist is a lot faster than studying to be a doctor, but it’s still a stable and respectable career. There’s also less pressure/stress, and fewer student loans to pay off (though I’ll also have a smaller paycheck to work with)
Talking to people! Pharmacy is a people-oriented career, because you have long term interactions with people over the course of several months. When I interviewed a pharmacist for a school project (more on that later), she said the best part was getting to know her patients and hearing their stories. They’d tell her about their grandkids, how they were feeling that month, and every time they came back they’d have new stories. I’m really looking forward to meeting people of all different backgrounds and ages, and just being a little part of their stories (you can tell being a science major has not changed how much I love English).
As for HOW, well, it’s kind of a simple story
For a long time, I didn’t plan to go into a medical profession (I actually really wanted to be an English or law major for most of my life). My parents mentioned UOP to me around junior year of high school, and I kept it in mind as a backup, not really planning to use it.
I liked the idea of an advantage program, because I could get out of school faster and start doing stuff. I started researching UOP and pharmacy, and for the most part it looked pretty reasonable.
The final decision came from a school project. I had to do a job shadow, so I interviewed a pharmacist I knew and asked why she liked her job. This is “how” I decided to go into pharmacy, as she was the one to encourage I pursue it. (I actually used this story in my personal statement ahaha)
I chose UOP for practical reasons more than anything. It was in-state, so traveling would be easy and I would have lower tuition fees to pay, and of course there’s the advantage program. I also really liked how pretty the campus was, and how it was far enough from home for me to still have a college adventure (I’m from SoCal, so travelling to NorCal was a nice change).
Whoa…that was a lot of writing…. o.O

Hello! I am going to apply for the Pre Pharmacy Program at UOP. Do you mind offering any advice/tips or what is considered a good GPA and SAT score? I'm super nervous about this whole application process and I really want to get in. Thanks so much!
Hey there!
Well, to answer your question, UOP has minimum GPA/SAT requirements you have to meet in order to be considered for pre-pharm. First they read your application and decide whether or not to accept you into the overall pharmacy program.
Then, they look at your GPA and SAT scores, and from there they decide what track you get into (the 2+3 program, the 3+3 program, or the 4+3 program). If you don’t know what those numbers mean, send in another ask and I’ll explain ^^
Anyway, if you want to know the exact scores you need, check this link. It lists the requirements (“current minimum criteria”) to be considered for each track.
Good luck with those applications, let me know how it goes!
